I bet that will be rather rank when the car is dug up. Also some gas and oil in there , too....along with other miscellaneous stuff.

Maybe this link to YouTube has been posted previously and I just missed it. If not, it's a film clip from '57. My son-in-law told me about it just a bit ago.

Bob,

This car will probably appear on eBay a couple of weeks after they dig it up:

1957 Plymouth Belvedere, Never Driven comes with a vintage case of beer, a pack of Camels, and a Zippo lighter. Sold as is….with free tank of gas…

Don't forget, "ran when parked"... LOL

It will be interesting for sure to see what's left in the vault. Looks like it was built like a swimming pool to me, from the pics... Wonder if it's been full of water since they turned the sprinklers back on when they were done putting the lid on :D. Might have been better off to just fill it with water from the get go, no oxygen = no rust.

If I'm say, 12 people off, guess what I'm gonna do. Get 12 of my buddies to sign a month to month lease somewhere in town so that I'm right on the money! LOL! I know; 12 others would probably move out the same day. Really, I wonder if anyone is out there saying to themselves; "I'm pretty sure my guess was the same as the current population". For that matter, I think my grandfather was living there about that time. Wonder if he submitted a guess? The car goes to the heirs! I could be the proud owner of brand new `57 Belvedere!!!! Oh MY GOD! This is getting exciting!!! Uh oh, I just remembered I will have to share it with nine my parents, nine brothers and sisters, twenty-three cousins, four aunts and uncles and probably another ten relatives I've never heard of that will come out of the woodwork. Better wake up now :)

All this convo of whats in the trunk,,,I remembered this from my youth. My folks had a 51 Plymouth,,,so did my Aunt and Uncle, Ours was that dorky light green,,,theirs was blue. One time to egg and daughter night(Saturday nite of course) they sold their eggs and cream and bought groceries including a pound of butter. Somehow the butter, at least, got left in the car,,,the sun came out next day and 'melted' the butter. It ran all over the trunk,,,AND where ever it ran,it rusted it right thru REAL quick!!! The whole trunk was one big honeycomb of rusted thru holes,,,including the back corner where the butter sat. Came clear thru the outside fender,,,right below the taillight assembly where the trunk floor met the back of the fender. You could have thrown a cat thru the holes it left, and as I said,,,remarkedly fast!!!

I kept a steel can of Budweiser once, with the original style pull tab. I kept it because the label was printed on it upside down. It is still unopened,,,BUT its empty, the can bottom rusted thru and all ran away. I wouldnt bet there will be ANY beer in that trunk and the condition of the trunk, may not be any better than the butter deal. Beer dosent seem to NEED air to rust thru things. Schlitz beer gave me red hives when I was a kid, probably no loss if its gone, bad stuff. I havent had a beer or other drink since fall of '99 so wouldnt want it anyway!!

I was in the mideast and brought back two sodas..one was a Coca Cola that was bottled in Kuwait..(kept in in case it stayed Providence 19, Iraqi name) and the other is an Oman Dew...label is as Mountain Dew..it too suffered the fate of your can in that it rusted out but otherwise pull tab intact...

I wonder if there will be a big legal battle if there ARE multiple heirs to the winning ticketholder.

I guess the chances of that will be in direct ratio to how much of a ball of rust the thing is.

(I hear Geraldo will be hosting the unearthing on Fox. hehehe)

Jeez, I hope they don't find one of my ex wives in there..:P;):D

Really neat, I once had a 57 Belvedere 2 door hardtop, in all white, push button, ohv V8, it sure brings back memories. But you know, for pure enjoyment, just give me my P24 wagon any day. The recently posted video link on the 57 was the best yet.
