scottyv47 Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 sorry it took so long, its been a crazy week, working from 5 am till 8 pm for the past 6 days, and driving an hour each way, so i couldn't get any pics of the new new yorker till today, i'll have some better ones tomarrow when i pick her up, she has all caps, and both skirts, and not a spot of rust, she's a keeper, i was going to use the 383 drivetrain for my 47 p15, but i don't have the heart to part out this near mint giant mopar, so i'm making it a retro sheriff car for the cruise nights, amost forgot anyone in the area, the car club i'm joining is having its once a year cruise in next sat, at the town square in washington GA, its from 6 to 9 pm, and cost ten dollar per car, and the money goes to local folks, like the animal shelter, the library, aspca, and stuff like that, there are dash plaques for the first 100 cars, food and drinks, and stuff like that, i'm burning the candle at both ends this week to get the new yorker up and running and dressed ala sheriff in time for the show Quote

Don Coatney Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 Man that is sweet, strip that baby down to the bones and put it in a demolition derby, they rarely loose!! then you can use the motor and trans in the P-15 and collect a little cash along the way! When I was young and foolish in the 60's I bought a 53 buick for about thirty bucks that was straight, clean, and ran really good. I bought this car to run in the annual county fair demo durby. I broke out all the glass and poked some holes in the floor for a seat belt. First good lick I took knocked off the throttle linkage and Buicks used the throttle linkage to engage the starter. So I sat dead in the mud having trashed a perfectely good car for not. After the derby was over I popped the hood and re-connected the linkage and the Buick fired right up. This was one of the most foolish things I did as a kid. I sure wish I had that Buick today. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 Don, you must be a good person at heart, I would never tell anybody that story. 1953 Buicks were dream cars where I come from, I must say that was deeply disturbing:confused: I hope you have changed, I think you have...I guess...I think....hopefully. Hey Scotty that a nice mopar, Use to make alot of money cleaning a ladies car just like that one. She let me take it to a drive in once. There were 6 of us and we was comfortable real cosey:cool: Quote
dezeldoc Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 Ya gotta remember that don is old enough to have been able to buy a new model T! so the Buick was just an old car to him. Quote
Andydodge Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 Probably the one good thing about that 53 Buick that Don wrecked was that it wasn't really a good one.......why it probably didn't have more than 2 drs & only a fabric roof.......Sky....Sky.....something like that......lol.......we've all done similar things when we was young & silly........thank god we're still silly.........lol...........andyd Quote
