Reg Evans Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 On the 105 mile 65 mph trip home from the 2nd annual BBQ at Tim's place I noticed my brake pedal seemed to get closer to the floor board than usual. I stopped and checked the master cylinder fluid level and it was pretty low so I topped it off and continued on. We made it home fine but this is what I found the next morning. As it turns out my procrastination paid off this time cause I almost installed new shoes I've had for about 6 months on the front before we left. They would have been soaked. I ordered some new front wheel cylinders from NAPA on Monday ($54 ea.) and they are in now. Time to get to work. Looks like a job for my steam cleaner too. What a mess !!! Quote
MBF Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Reg-luckily yours wasn't the speedy bleed version. I had that once in my 36 Plym-gets your attention real quick! I always make sure the emergency works-but the driveshaft brakes on the MoPars means you've got 1 wheel brakes once you lock up a wheel unless you've got a posi. Guess that's why you'll never catch me tailgating in anything. Mike Quote
Reg Evans Posted April 29, 2009 Author Report Posted April 29, 2009 I hear that Mike. I too always leave lots of room between me and the car in front of me but the other maniacks on the road have to fill in that space so they can get there 1/2 a second sooner. Sorta Indy 500 style. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 I hear that Mike. I too always leave lots of room between me and the car in front of me but the other maniacks on the road have to fill in that space so they can get there 1/2 a second sooner. Sorta Indy 500 style. We have those idiots here too. Funny thing is, a lot of times they get stuck in another lane and you then pass them up again. Or, they are stuck at a traffic light when you pull up along side them. Glad you made it home safely. Quote
greg g Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Hey there was some discussio about putting brake fluid on tires to renew them.....that one looks pretty new!!! Glad you made it home without mishap. Quote
48Dodger Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Holy Cow Reg!!! Glad you made it home safe. Lisa and you are some of my favorite people. You know, Gary (yellow panel) had a little trouble gettin to the BBq this year and called me to let me know he made it home Ok. Maybe I should call Mike and make sure his "yeller" made it home. 48D Quote
Reg Evans Posted April 29, 2009 Author Report Posted April 29, 2009 Hey thanks Tim....we like you a bunch too. Yeller eh ? All 3 yeller trucks had a little trouble? Hummmm. Yup...I hate those numb skulls that tail gate or squeeze in front of you. When I was a kid back in the 60's my step dad hated those kind of drivers too. So much so that he tried to get what he called "Stop Cards" approved by the Ca. DMV. They were a post card you could fill out and send in to DMV with the offenders license plate noted and a brief description of the offense. He thought that if one of the idiotic drivers had enough of these cards sent in ,DMV would suspend their driving privileges for a while. Wish we had them ! Greg, I guess I'd better rub down the rest of the tires with a little dot 4 so they'll match. Quote
woodscavenger Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Hope it doesn't get on that purty yeller paint and ruin it. Another reason to like a dual chamber system. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 As I said, ship it to me! I will return it in a few years after the repairs are complete. Quote
Reg Evans Posted April 29, 2009 Author Report Posted April 29, 2009 Shucks......I can't Don. It's leaking hazardous waste now. Quote
Frank Elder Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 You think being around your truck is a hazard...how about the truck being around Don C.? Methane is no joke:eek: Quote
grey beard Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Gee, Reg, Didn't know Old Yeller was a 4 X 4. I really dig those front mudders! Bet they steer real easy, too. I also liked your self bleeding feature. Back East here in Pennsyltucky, we can get 'em bled in less than 105 miles, though. Sometimes takes only two or three stops . . . 'er should I say stop ATTEMPTS, more likely. Glad you got home safe. Quote
