Howdy all;

The 48' P15 is in need of a headlight switch fuse as I have blown mine and have no spare. What the correct amperage? I can't seem to find it in any of my books? Also, my blown fuse is 1 7/16 in length, I may need a source for them as my auto parts store don't carry them.

Thanks.

30 amps is what I am running in my D25 and I'm pretty sure that is correct. The length of mine is also 1 7/16". Got mine at a local jobbers (privately owned auto parts store) here in town. Shouldn't be that hard to trace down.

They are longer than the standard tube type fuse. A .22 calibre long rifle brass could be substituted....recommend it be discharged first.......or you could wrap the old one with some chewin' gum tinfoil.

I had no trouble getting these fuses from napa and my local do it best hardware store. If you cant find some I could drop some in the mail.

Back in 53 I was driving my folks 48 home at night and hit the dimmer switch and blew the fuse. We didn't have a new fuse so used tin foil from chewing gum to get home. Next day replaced with a new fuse and never had the problem again. That was the first and last time I or my folks drove the car out of town. The dimmer switch probably hadn't ever been used before I hit it for bright lights. I used to think something was wrong with my folks as they seldom ventured out at night, now 55 years later I understand.
