gnoub1948 Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 I was cleaning out the winter dirt in the shop and put wheels back on the rust bucket to roll Frankie around on dollies to clean under him. Now I did a bunch of stupid things like get rid of parts since I thought I was going to put a clip on. But I'm not. And I don't have the tie rods, etc. around, so the wheels just flop around. The parts got dumped by accident. Anyway, no matter since I want an R & P any way. But to the question; look at the picture. The negative camber is HUGE. Is the front end on these cars that adjustable or do I have bent parts? If I ever get to the frame (the body is so bad) I would want to keep most of the suspension; use the lowered spindles from Fat Man and Charlies parts. So, do I need to worry or not? Thanks, Gary Quote
Frank Elder Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Absolutely no help at all, but Frank is not somebody that gets things done! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 throw about 800 lbs of weight and look again... Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 As Tim said, put the motor back in and she'll probably sit right. The picture below is a picture of a 47 P15 chassis. The front end parts were OK on it when I removed them. The car also sat right before the guy took it apart. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Since my upper control arm bumpers dissappeared a long time ago, my front end looks a lot worse than that when I jack it up on the center of the front crossmember. But on the ground, its perfect. Quote
gnoub1948 Posted April 21, 2009 Author Report Posted April 21, 2009 Thanks everyone. And Frankie47, is that you or your car? Could there be two Frankie MOPAR's in the world? I call mine Frankie, short for Frankenstein, since if I do get him completed in some form or another, he'll be a hodgepodge of pieces of sheet metal from four different cars, this far anyway. Joe Flanagan Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Um, I thought my car was Frankenstein. I guess that at this age, they're all a conglomeration of several different cars. I thought about mapping out where in the country all the parts of my car have come from. It's all over the place. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Joe I'm keeping track of all the places I've gotten parts for for my 40 Plymouth pickup. So far CAx2, WI, TX, NC, MN, NJ, and maybe others I've forgotten. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Gary, If you are planning on using some of Charlies parts, better contact him. He recently said something about not being able to supply the disc brake kits soon, and he only had so many left to sell. Don't know about the other stuff he may sell. Oh, and I forgot in my other post. When my engine was out for rebuilding, my front end looked like yours. Don't have any picture of it though, but mine also still had the front clip. Once the motor was back in, it went back to normal. Quote
