1940plymouth Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Welcome Frederic, you have a nice looking '40. There are a few members that have the '40 Plymouth, me included Quote
greg g Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 hey Frederic, welcome aboard. If you found the forum through a search engine, be sure to check out the main site that hosts this board. You can reach it by clicking on the Return to P15 D 24 button. Lotsa good iformation there. Your 40 is mechanically similar to MOPAR cars built till 1959. Also check the FAQ button for hints on using the forum. Also if you click the members list, I think you will find there are several members in Germany, a couple in the Netherlands and several in the Scandanavian countries. Nice lookig car, not a lot of 2 door sedans around. You also might like to check out the resources of the Plymouth Owners Club. Have fun with your car. What are your plans for it? Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 hey greg, thanks! the forum has been recommended to me by several people, i have heard only good things, so i decided to sign up. i am also in a german hot rod and oldstyle forum, but for most of the technical stuff i needed a different input. currently i'm buying tons of literature, parts lists and shop manuals, to get into the construction. it's pretty easy most of it, that's what i had hoped. i really like old stuff, not only cars and bikes, so i try to get originals. the car's look will be preserved as it is, because that's why i bought it in the first place. i wanted a rusty looking car, that really has no rust at all. the 40 has 78000miles on the count, i am the second owner. the wiring will be replaced completely, because i am afraid of fires:) , i bought erverything i need of rhode island wiring last week. i also want to rebuild the axles (gonna need some good advise here, where to buy and what) and lower the car. really low if possible... the rest remains stock, i want to ride! deadbodyman Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 hey fred,i also just joined yesterday, have two 48 biz coupes, looks like were in the right place Quote
Normspeed Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 That looks like a real nice original 40 there. You're right about the wiring, that old stuff sure gets brittle with age. I'm sure you'll find lots of good information here. Quote
T120 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Frederic, I also like the original weathered look on your car,(patina). It's nice to find a car in that condition that hasn't been repainted. Also good to know the history of the car. Ralph Quote

Brendan D25 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Welcome Cpt. Fred and deadbodyman. I think you guys will like it here as there is a wide variety of members with mopars from the 30s to the sixties, restored, custom, hotrodded, etc. Enjoy, Brendan. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 i found this "insert image" button on top of the typing window, its like a small mountain with a moon or sun over it. if you click that, you're asked for an URL and i just uploaded the pics with pixpack, here: http://pixpack.net/ small and efficient program that doesnt cost anything. Normspeed Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 That's an interesting front bumper guard on your 40. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 you mean those 3 trims? i was wondering, too. haven't found them on other photos while i was googling around for the p-10 series (and lay awake night after night quarreling with myself wether or not it would be a good idea to buy a 69year old car i had never seen before from some internet platform) they look original, though, because they are in the exact same worn condition like the rest of the car.
