who's had it done?

and how much did it run ya?

theres a place in town that can rebuild it and put new axles on it so i can have disc brakes in the bake but that will cost me tons and as most of you know i need the cheap alternative for now

the gears dont look to bad but we unbolted the housing and it almost came completely off without taking the hubs out or the drums off...we figured that was a bad sign but we could be wrong...none of us have worked on rearends this old and the guy helping me doesnt have any experience with mopars

any help would be awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeee

You should really try to find a shop manual before your enthusiam causes you unneeded problems. A reproduction manual is a good investment and will likely pay for itself.

Ok I guess I'm just not asking my question right

But for clarification ill try again

I know the drums come off first and so on

We unbolted the pumpkin to get a peak at the gears and if they were any good or not...we didn't expect it to almost fall off

Heck I don't even know what I'm trying to ask

Just delete this thread

I just got done building my rear end. I took lots of pics. send me an email address and I can forward some to you.

If the axels are still in place I guess that the pumpkin could come out about an inch or so then the axels would stop it from falling out.

Hmm maybe you should stick to bicycles.

oh if this was the HAMB i could actually say something:mad:

i know how to build and work on cars for the most part...i dont deal with rear axles much

the only time ive delt with one is putting a locker in my toyota rear axle and that was cake compared to this stone age design:p

i would have thought with age most of you would be able to figure out what i was asking but apparently thats not the case...oh well:D

The thing about being older is that you have been there and done that. Being younger means you are often learning as you go. That's what this forum is about.....helping others and having some fun. I am 60 this month but I sure remember being 21. I don't feel any older than early 30's but then I look in the mirror.
