Just picked up a 91 Dodge Dakota with a 5.4 v8. The rolling frame, engine and trans will go under the 53 and I can sell enough of the body parts to recoup my buying price of $350, I'm a happy camper. Bud

Sounds good. I believe it would be a 5.2/318. Are you gonna keep the TBI or change to carb?

not sure, really. Can I keep the tbi and still run the 49 Plymouth gauges that I want to use???

The TBI would have no effect on the 49 gauges other than the fuel gauge. Adaptor fittings for oil and temp gauges will make them work as they are mechanical rather than electric. Amp gauge will work with proper polarity as they don't care if it's 6 or 12V. Might be easier to change to carb and 70's electronic ignition. Some say the intake is a direct swap, some say not.I can't say because I haven't done it.

I had a 93 V6, peppy 5 speed, top end on the speedo was 120 I think...wouldn't go faster than 95 after the computer kicked in the governer:mad: :D :D One of the nicer riding pickups I've been in I think you'll like the ride Bud.

I could start restoring my dakota instead of an old truck. I've been thinking of just buying the repro fenders and rockers for it. They aren't all that expensive.
