Following the Top chop in another thread. We should all be as talented as you with a sawsall, cutoff wheel, and mig welder. Excellent work.

Really.. great work. Keep the updates coming in.

WOW!!!! That will be nice. Maybe out to put a Chrysler dash in!!! Interesting tio watch what you are doing. Two inches off the top of these trucks really makes them look great! Since the car dash's bolt out, it does make sense. I like the idea.

My daughter likes the 'twin towers' in the 52/53 Dodge so it stays other wise I might think about getting some help and changing. I too want to see the results.

That's sweet! Can't wait to see it finished.

Are the pilot house truck dashes welded in like my 46? Are you welding in or bolting in the 49 car one?

Good to know. Now you've got me thinking about my next truck and the fact that I have I think 3 extra 46-48 plymouth dashes.

Finished The Dash Swap In The 53 Dodge Truck Today. I Decided To Add Fillers To Each Side And Create The Same Raised Area That Is On The Doors So The Continuity Would Continue From The Dash To The Doors. I Will Do Some Work To The Doors To Help That Along Too, But For Now, The Welding And Fabricating Is Done And Looks Acceptable. Next Step Is Suicide Doors!! Bud :D :d :D

I am a contractor and specialize in finish carpentry/cabinets. I just finished a 10 week coarse (30 hours) on welding. Just for fun and so I can do my own welding on my toys. I own torches & welders but always depended on my dad to fix my junk. He turned 70 and said its time you learn!! I felt pretty confident after the class until I opened this thread. You are definetly gifted Bud. My son is thinking of getting rid of the 3 chrome bars and having a custom honeycomb grill. I wish Bud was closer, he could be my dad for awhile.

thanks for the kind words, but as I stated in another thread, I'm just a guy with average (at best) skills. I am hoping these threads will help some of the members realize a higher potential. Very little of this is any more than 75% thinking it out and 25% carrying it out. As for taking out the 3 chrome strips on a 49 - 50 Plymouth dash, you would still be left with the chrome strip on instrument panel. It does not come off as it is part of the whole gauge panel. It might look kinda lonesome out there by itself. You might try doing what I did with the radio grille and hinging it so you can hide the radio/cd player inside along with a cup holder. pic enclosed. Bud I think he meant the 3 grill bars not the dash parts. You are right even if you have the deluxe dash you still have that chrome strip across the dash. Maybe with the deluxe piece it would then be possible to get rid of the chrome across the bottom.

Bud that is simply amazing. Who would have thoughht it? Looks really nice and inspires the rest of us to do something different, well maybe. Didn't by chance save the speedometer out of the old dash did you. I need one with all the numbers.

When you first started this project I was not impressed with your plans, but I have to say that you are doing one Hell of a job. The plymouth dash is the icing on the cake. Just wish you had Mopowered it.

if I hadn't gotten such a deal on the frame and engine, it would have been all mopar. thanks for the kind words, Bud
