I have 2 on my car just pitted bad and one has a crack. I'd give Neil Riddle a try... seaplym@hotmail.com Neil often has NOS stone guards, and is a regular seller on ebay. Pete Quote

aero3113 Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 Still no good There was a right side one on ebay that I lost the last few seconds. Maybe a new member might have a pair???? Here is a pic of the style I need Quote
Mark Haymond Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 I went to my garage to get my spart 50 stone guards but unfortunately they are not much better than your picture. Try using grade 0000 steel wool on your guards to clean them up. It will not hurt the chrome even with firm pressure but will remove a lot of surface patina and stain. Won't fix the pits but maybe they will look better until you can get ones in better shape. Quote
aero3113 Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 Thanks guys, I will try both. Quote

Brendan D25 Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 What metal are the stone guards made of? If they are stainless they can be repaired but pot metal is a different story. For stone guards I would think they would use stainless. Brendan. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 Nope the 49-52 cars use potmetal at least on some models. I think maybe the 52 ones finally switched back Quote
Frank Elder Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 49 plymouth 2-dr sedan...potmetal, wasn't much left. Quote
aero3113 Posted February 25, 2009 Author Report Posted February 25, 2009 Yes, they are pot metal Quote
Bingster Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 Do these stone guards fit on a '47 Desoto fender? Are the rear fenders of Dodge, Plymouth and Desoto for that year the same fender? Quote
aero3113 Posted February 25, 2009 Author Report Posted February 25, 2009 I think they are different Quote
