In replacing the brakes on the p15 I am using preformed lines from napa. When I was replacing one of the lines it would not thread I see on the labels some of the lines had standard flare and some had bubble on it they both are US thread.

Over the past 5 or 6 years I have replaced at least 4 sets of brake and fuel lines (different cars) but never noticed this so just wondering what they are for. I will be going back to exchange the line in a few days and also need the front wheel seals is the napa parts # in the parts list 17145 correct I recall a few years back there was a problem with a part # but I think it may have been the rear

None that I know of. I think it would have to be for something other then brakes.

Bubble flares are used on foreign and (I think) some domestic cars. When I worked at Pep Boys, we had the brake line fittings color coded and a chart to explain the differences.

Harold thanks I was wondering what they were for.

There are not that good at NAPA they are all mixed together usually I just need to look to see if they are metric or us thread which I did but now I guess I need to read the label a little better.

Hi All

I have a '90 Caprice here with Bubble flare brake lines. You are supposed to use a special flaring tool to make the bubble but I just did the first stage with my double flaring tool and put it together with no leaks.....The car is being used in an endurance race this weekend and I was not going to buy the "right" tool for this one job.
