  2. I'm familiar with those units. They kinda suck! Frank
  3. And this poor pooch goes right along with the above. Ya gotta feel sorry for him while you're cracking a rib laughing. Check out this "specially trained and disciplined " hunting dog for sale.
  4. Joe - This might be too far out of an idea, but what IF you forgo the idea of using a trailer and loaded the purchased pick-up into a rental van and simply hauled it home inside the rental truck. Of course you'll need a loading ramp or loading dock or at the very least, stable enough portable drive on ramps to load and unload the pick-up. Needless to say, you'll need to arrange some dunnage and tie downs at the load-up site, but that should be doable enough. Another unseen advantage in addition to saving the cost of the trailer rental would be the security for you new found purchase--of having it inside-- while parked and stopped. I know of a guy near me who delivers vintage aircaft to Calif inside rental trucks. Good luck with your adventure. Frank
  5. Here's a pair of new car door locks, but perhaps this ebay vendor has what you're looking for. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200654204422&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:MOTORS:1123
  6. How much "Moe" of this are we going to have?
  7. YEP, Here we go again. We've had a 7 year breather since the 3 "biguns" hit us back-to-back. I burned a lot of yard/bush cuttings yesterday and will finish that chore today. Then it's put all the outside yard equipment up and tie down all the miscellaneous goodies piled onto an old flat-bed trailer outback. My Dodge is in her 20' shipping container, nice and snug and very happy! Last week I put some new weather stripping on the cargo doors and patched a few leaks on the container's roof. Went shopping late yesterday for more can goods, etc, loaded the water jugs and igloos and ordered LPG for the house generator. The shutters are in my small shed, I'll wait till Wedsnesday or Thursday before dragging them out and having to hassel with installing them them for 1/2 a day. Now the wait begins. Maybe Irene will turn further eastward and miss the state. Good luck to us and our friends and neighbors in GA and the Carolinas. Frank
  8. This is unbelievable. What a special lady she is. She's from Plymouth MI. http://graphics8.nytimes.com/bcvideo/1.0/iframe/embed.html?videoId=100000000895665&playerType=embed
  9. Keep in mind this was about 6 years before we entered WWII. I guess Henry Ford's mass production assembly line did indeed prepare us and give us a good edge for the war. Hmmmmmmmmmmm
  10. Outstanding! That's a beautiful car. Enjoy the ride...............in comfort. Would you mind sharing who did your upholstery work? Or did you buy a kit. Many thanks Frank
  11. Contact Joe Jesser at Jesser's Classic Keys 330-376-8181 http://www.jessersclassickeys.com/index.html He recently rebuilt/replaced my trunk lock cylinder & assembly. He included two of the old style keys. Frank
  12. Don- Contact this man--Chuck at sixpak_mri4825na@members.ebay.com I bought six rocker panel clips from him earlier this month for my Dodge. They were the wrong pieces, but I was able to figure out they were for a late 40-early 50 Plymouth. Chuck did offer to re-ship other clips he had but I declined his offer. Ultimately, I returned the order to him for a full refund. I have pictures of mine and his clips, side by side, if you think that will help. Hope this leads you in the right direction. Regards, Frank
  13. For those who have complained (polite choice of words) about working on their cars, check out this guy. http://www.dumpert.nl/mediabase/1540231/ea26d977/even_m_n_remmen_checken.html
  14. Haven't tried them yet. I will now. Many thanks, Frank
  15. Hello all I'm looking for the escutcheon plate or cover for the door handle on my '50 Dodge Coronet. This is the spring-loaded piece that fits into the garnish (window) molding above the door panel. Please see photo 1 showing the missing item. The other photo has all the door & window hardware installed. I was so organized and careful when disassembling the door panels for repair & recovering, I put all the pieces, parts, including my "how-to" notes etc in marked envelopes for each door. Come assembly time everything for the other 3 doors was there and in perfect order. For the right rear door I found all the parts--including the tiny pin for the window & door handle cranks EXCEPT THE #%*$*#* escutcheon plate. Where, oh where did it go and where oh where can it be? For the past 2 weeks I have searched the web, including all known supply houses plus Ebay looking for that one part. Anyone have a reliable source for these or a spare escutcheon they are willing to sell? Thank you. Frank
  16. Thanks, Greg. This is an OUTSTANDING source and reference for information and help. In addition to saving the link on your computer's browser, given the "improving economy", and the possible loss of funding to continue and maintain the website by the Imperial Club, I suggest this: 1) find the year of your car or cars; 2) select the topic or section that you want to save; 3) starting at page 1 of that section, right click each page of the manual and "save as" either a .jpg or gif image file. You can name or re-name each page as you proceed through the manual's section. Then go to the next topic or section and repeat the process. YES, it is laborious and time consuming, but it's a good project for a rainy day or when you just don't feel like turning a wrench. This way you'll have a ready-reference Bible for your car----on your computer!! My $0.25 worth adjusted for inflation. Frank
  17. Great ideas and pics here. Thanks everyone. Does anyone have any experience using this material in their car, versus doing the floor boards in their truck? I have found a roll of this matting at the local TSC., but my concern is how well the mat will lay down and conform to the shape and contours of the transmission hump and driveshaft tunnel? Any thoughts? Thanks Frank
  18. Good thru June 5, 2011, here's the code for a 5% discount on parts from Rock Auto: 31393212587275 "Enter the code above in the "How did you hear about us" line of the shopping cart. If you are using our traditional HTML catalog, please click the "Apply" button to the right of the field. Your discount will automatically appear, subtracted from your order total." Frank
  19. Tom, I have the door panels off my D-34. I'll take a few pics of the clips, mounting holes, etc., for you if that will help. I can do that in about one hour and post them. Regards, Frank

  21. Looking at the young children in some of these pictures, makes me wonder what/where and who they are today. Given the ages of some of us on the Forum, those "kids" would be about our age now. Just thinking what become of them. I guess that's all I need to worry about..................today. LOL Frank
  22. Hello All - Found this ebay site. It might be of interest to some of you. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300524642185&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:MOTORS:1123 They also are listing new glove boxes in addition to the kick panels. I know nothing about the vendor, other than they are in Canada. Regards, Frank
  23. A signed OK is so much more "personal" than just an "Inspected by #3" tag found in a new pkg of Fruit of the Looms.
  24. Folks -- All good ideas and suggestions. Yet, there is obviously a deeper issue here. Randy, when did you first noticed this virus or get an alert? You stated (above) you performed System Restore through two separate programs, the results were the same. Have you tried doing a Restore Point, say from a week or so ago? Perhaps you can determine the date when this virus hit your system and Restore to a point just before that event. Even if that fails, you can do an Un-restore and return to your current settings. Another idea: Have your tried to change the "Services" or "Startup" settings in msconfig for Kaspersky? Maybe by starting the computer without Kaspersky loaded, you might be able to do the registry entry changes you want to. If you need help with changing the settings in the msconfig panel, I'll try to help you here. Just go to "Start, Run, type in msconfig. hit enter or OK. When the new panel opens, go to the far right hand columns, Startup and Services and uncheck all that applies to Kaspersky. Write down all your changes so you can undo them when your finished, exit msconfig and select "reboot". After the computer loads, try your registry fix or changes. If they stick and all is well, go back and reset your Kaspersky settings in msconfig. As far as your flashcard idea, that might be an answer. Can you boot the computer from the card? Maybe a temporary change in your BIOS to allow the system to boot to the card will give you access. Again, good luck with this. Frank
  25. FIRST--- Go to System Restore and create a Restore Point immediately before you muck around in the Registry. Then, go to your Windows Directory--Usually c:/Windows Find the Regedit.exe file. Right click it, copy and paste it, and the program will give you a Regeit (2).exe file. Rename it Regedit.com. Double click that and you should be in the Regedit window. Complete your changes, re-boot Windows and if all is OK after the re-boot, then delete the .com file you created earlier. Hope this works for you. It should! Frank
