no spots no eyebrows nothing like that, but I might put a giant eyeball and a horn on the top since I named it the purple people eater LOL -

well that answers that question then, Lake pipes it is, and I couldn't decide between the singles or the triples now I'm definitely getting the triples LOL -
looking for some pictures of a p 15 or d24 with Chrome Lake pipes functional or not, thinking about putting some on my 48, and wanted to get an idea what they're going to look like, thanks in advance

using the number Casper gave me I looked them up on the internet, and I found a bunch on eBay and ordered some they were pretty cheap, hopefully the right length
-
in an attempt to get my 48 ready for lead East, I just got myself a sun visor on the cheap, a buddy of mine had it in his garage and I got it for 50 bucks, I think it came off an old Chevy pick up around the 50s, but I'm going to make it work I just got done painting it, kind of a weird combo, satin black with black cherry flake, sorry about the crappy picture it's pouring out

hey did anyone ever find out what fuse is used for the clock, I hot-wired the clock for a second in my 47 Dodge and the clock does work, but there is no fuse in the holder, and I can't seem to find one short enough to fit in there any place
-
yeah I've already converted quite a few and kept the original 6 volt starter, it usually lasts a couple years, but mine is shot if my car doesn't start on half a crank, it just spins , it's long overdue for a rebuild, and I'm pretty sure 12 volts would fry it completely
-
And the condenser for the points, and the bulbs, and the starter motor, and the generator, and so on and so on it's not just the battery
-
I'm going to slowly rewire it as I drive it to the local cruise nights, I'm going to take it to lead East this year too, already reserved my spot, my dad doesn't have much longer, I bought this car cuz it's plenty large and comfortable to take him to some car shows, and have room for his wheelchair, and it rides a heck of a lot smoother then the 39 Plymouth Business Coupe, I flushed out the brake system and put all new fluid in it yesterday, and now it has pretty good brakes, except I have one leaky wheel cylinder in the rear, I just ordered another one
-
I might eventually convert to 12 volt, I'm definitely not a Concours guy, but it has a brand new battery, brand new points plugs wires not that plugs and wires matter conversion wise, and like I said most of the wires are bare because the insulation crumbled off, so I definitely don't want to be running 12 volts through the existing wiring, I shouldn't even really be running 6 volts LOL
-
well I switched all the wiring back the way it was supposed to be, and eliminated all his extra wiring, and changed the polarity on the generator, now the amp gauge reads correctly unfortunately the fuel gauge still doesn't work, so either the gauge got fried from being reversed, or it may be just a simple wiring issue or needs sending unit, I'll check that all out tomorrow, unfortunately also I think the Caps got fried in the radio, it still Powers up, but just buzzes, eventually I'm going to have to rewire the whole car because the insulation is completely gone on the wiring, but it does start and run and charge and the lights work
-
I buffed out the rest of the car today and it shined up really nice, it had a ton of oxidation from sitting in the garage for 20 plus years
-
yeah mine starts and runs Perfect to, it's actually one of the best and smoothest running flat heads that I've ever had, but it just had some weird things going on like the lights were extra weirdly bright unlike any 6 volt that I've ever seen, none of the gauges work except the amp meter and that reads backwards when you step on the gas it goes lower into the negatives instead of going higher but the lights get brighter LOL, and the radio only buzzes, I get no stations or anything so I don't know if it's fried or not, and also the electric choke doesn't work, but I'm not sure if that's because it's wired backwards or it just doesn't work
-
well I just talked to the previous owner, and he said he took the distributor out to change the points, I asked him why he took it out to change the points and he said because it was much easier than trying to change them in the car, and when he did he saw the wire from the distributor was going to the negative side of the coil, , so he changed the wiring, and he also put a new battery in it at the same time, but he's never worked on a Dodge before, that he's a Chevy guy, and he had no idea that it was positive ground, he swears that's all he did, he said he bought it from the original owner, and then changed his mind about owning it, so in reality I'm guessing he was just a car flipper, and bought it on the cheap and then sold it to make a profit, without knowing anything about the car, but there are all kinds of wires cut in to the original wiring under the dash, so I'm going to switch the battery back the way it should be, and put the coil back the way it's supposed to be, see what happens and hope for the best for now

Nothing racist about it, but fixed just for you, everybody tries to make something out of nothing these days

so I added another Mopar to the collection this week, nicest New Jersey car I've seen in a long time, rock solid, the guy started it up and ran it for an hour for me everything started and looked good, had it towed home yesterday, started messing with it today, the car is all original and still has the 6 volt system, looking at the battery I noticed that the positive side is going to the starter not to the block as a ground like it should be, then I noticed that almost everything is rewired under the dash and under the hood, it looks like the idiot before me couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start with the Positive hooked up to the starter motor so he rigged everything, I wondered why the amp gauge was reading backwards and the gas gauge and other gauges besides the oil pressure don't work, I'm not sure if I should leave it like that for now and rewire the thing over the winter, or if I should try and figure it all out now, now I have a dumb question, shoudnt the starter motor turn backwards if the current is going into it backwards ??????

aftermarket radio and speaker installation
thebelvedereman replied to bluefoxamazone's topic in P15-D24 Forum
or else you could take the Fairly inexpensive route that I took, I upgraded my speaker in the same location, but used my original 6 volt radio and I bought this handy little Dandy off of eBay, I actually bought it for one of my other cars, but I use it in all my antique cars so I can use their Factory original radios, it's an AM transmitter it works on a 9 volt battery, and all you do is tune in to an unused radio station on your AM radio, and then fine tune the transmitter, you can plug in a CD player an MP3 player or anything else you want and I just throw it in the glove compartment with my MP3 player, that way you have kind of an authentic sound since it is playing through your original radio, and that's what I look for in my music https://m.ebay.com/itm/AM-HOME-STATION-RADIO-TRANSMITTER-FOR-1-MHZ-MEDIUM-WAVE-FOR-YOUR-RADIOS/332122290954?hash=item4d5407fb0a:g:WRgAAOSwfVpYnwIJ -
Will 7" vintage mopar rim fit my 1948 Dodge coupe?
thebelvedereman replied to ebruns1's topic in P15-D24 Forum
I ran 225 70 15s on the front and rear of my 48 p15 with 15 x 7 Mopar police wheels, with absolutely no problems, and the back end sat pretty low, the car did have Volare front clip though -

moving along a little bit further, I figured out my accelerator linkage problems today, so now the carburetor butterfly opens all the way instead of just a third of the way like it was before, the guy had all kinds of nuts and bolts and spacers and washers all rigged up on the linkage, it was the stupidest setup I've ever seen, I am going to have to rebuild the steering box, and I think it needs kingpins too, oh well I'm into it for almost $10,000 now, what's a few more dollars
