My "53" B4B has a semi syncro trans. Shifts up fine but will only down shift from 4 to 3. There are no syncros betwen 1&2 or 2&3. First is granny gear. With original rear (4:10) top speed in first was 6MPH.
Anybody have their gas tank out of their PH truck. I need the diameter of the plate on the top of the tank that the sending unit hangs from also approx. thickness of same plate. Can email to prb6413@verizon.net
Merle I was told that the odler M/C's had a one way valve to let fluid out but not back into the M/C. The man said that the valve kept the fluidd in the lines because all whl. cyls. are below the M/C. I have dics on the front and drum on the back of my truck with orig. M/C and I have no problems with my brakes. I only put a proportioning valve to the rear brakes.
I measured my 1953 P/U and there is 7 1/2" between the steering gear box and the cross member. That does not count any grinding that you may have to do to mount the M/C. I am still using thew stock M/C with front disc from AAJ and a newer 8 1/4" mopar rear 3:55.
I am looking for a pair of control arms that go between the wiper and the vacuum wiper motor. I believe they are all the same for the trucks if not ones that will fit a B4B. Email me at prb613@verizon.net
'07' Chrysler 300. as soon as it gets out of the body shop. A deer jumped on the windshield right at the roof two weeks ago this sunday. Hope to have it back by end of this week.
Anyone wanting to convert to disc brakes should contact AAJ Brakes he specializes in MOPAR only and has both front and rear disc setups. I installed his ftont disc setup on my "53" Dodge truck and it works perfectly. I am still using the stock master cyl. and I was told that the orig. MC has a one way valve so you do not need residual valves unless you change MC's the only item I put on my truck is a proportioning valve so rear brakes will lock up before the front. I also have a newer rear axle but still have drum brakes on the rear and have had no problem with them.
With all the new cars usimg 16" & 17" wheels and tires you should be able to find plenty of 16" tires to fit your 16" wheels. You just have to find a tire shop that will accomadate you. plenty of 2000 GM cars had 16" tires and wheel so keep loking and good luck.
I read that if you upgrade to vista it erases your old operating system.
Then when you do not like vista you have to reinstall win. XP or wharever you were using.I just upgraded to new motherboard because video card died and they phased out AGP video for PCI express video next time I upgrade it will be a faster processor. Stopped buying brand name computers when I found out how easy it was to put them together myself.
I have AAJ brakes on my 53 PH. Roger supplies all the parts or just the backing plate to mount caliphers . I bought the whole kit from him and am very pleased.
Have gm caliphers d52 disc pads with 16" wheels a 12" rotor from newer front axle of four wheel drive 1/2 ton dodge truck use 11" rotor with 15" wheels. AAJ Brakes is listed under Brake section of Deptca listing.
I have been using the tire plugs for many years. I also put some rubber glue for tire patches on the plug before inserting. Have never had a leak after.
I found this ad in a magazine similar to Old Car Trader.

What you are converting to looks very similar to the drive shaft on my "53"
pickup truck 1/2 Ton. Modern u-joints and flange that bolts to back end of trans
and slip joint in front end of driveshaft.
Maybe you could take one to your parts house and see if they could match one that is newer. Would have to be same dia. and width for shoes. Then you would have to chisel off rivets and put the new drum on and it would be held in place by the lug bolts.
