  1. That's a nice-looking radiator. I don't need it, but it really does look like it might have come out of a 30k miles truck.
  2. A nice day in a nicer ride. Thanks for sharing the pictures!
  3. This thing's gonna be better than new.
  4. Precisely, Tim. I've worked in the news business for over 20 years now. Headlines like this drive me batty. Who ever HAS stopped a cyclone? What may have happened in this case is a headline written by someone for whom English is a second language. But the news media today have eliminated so many editing jobs there's often nobody left for whom English is their first language, who will react as do you and I and say, "Woah, 'Unstoppable?' ... How about we go with 'Unrelenting?'"
  5. Oh sweeeeeeeeeeet.
  6. I think the kids did OK, and the important thing is that they had a good time enjoying their dad's hobby! Looks like a good day.
  7. Over three years ago I considered buying this '78 VW Bus as a project vehicle to finish for my daughter. It was at a moving sale in Oklahoma City. The owner lost his job but found a new one in Florida. The seller wanted $800 but I figured I could have had it for $600 and that didn't seem like a total bargain considering the VW's condition. BUT, at that time it had the engine and transmission and it ran. It had new brakes. It just needed ... everything ... else. Now it turns up in Tulsa for $350, minus engine and transmission and I'm betting those brakes, too. And maybe another thing or three. All that sheet metal damage above and below the windshield -- and the missing windshield itself, in fact -- was due to hail. OKC is essentially the epicenter for hailstorms. The seller had a late-model SUV in a vacant lot across the street that looked like it had been riddled by a gatling gun firing golf balls.
  8. So who's up for finishing where they left off?
  9. Nice. ... I like Henderson, Ky. Well, what I've seen of it, which is mostly Ellis Park. But I love Ellis Park. Keep enjoying the ride!
  10. I love the DeSoto convertible. ... And I don't know if that clock is rare, but I know I love it! Did you leave it behind?
  11. Ugly? That thing's awesome! ... I want one! Seriously, once I get the hang of this stuff -- which could be never -- two things I want to restore or even fabricate are a vintage cab and chassis-based horse hauler and a car hauler, like this Mercedes, or that Pilot House above, or even a D-700 like the one once owned by Cotton Owens (below).
  12. A little late saying so, but I agree that the wood graining looks fantastic.
  13. Excellent work. I also enjoy seeing the projects of others, even when they aren't Mopars. Quality craftsmanship is recognizable regardless of make or model.
  14. I agree. These could be the illustrations for a body shop textbook. I agree with this, too!
  15. Thanks for saving all this valuable stuff and for making it available to your message board mates!
  16. I knew I should have sent my son to trade school instead of private school to study philosophy. Now I can't understand him when he talks and he can't weld or fabricate or paint. Pretty much the same reason my parents shouldn't have let me go to college.
  17. Is your battery for that beast in the trunk? ... That was recommended to me by the guy who was helping install my 360, but since we couldn't finish (yet anyway) there was no decision reached.
  18. I kinda liked her with the giant sunroof. ... Coulda made her a glass-top, too.
  19. This is about to be one of my favorite threads ever. Thanks!
  20. My favorite feature is the 1970s textured carpet dash. Seriously, though, you're going to have a lot of fun here.
  21. I third (or fourth, or whatever) the motion for pictures. We do like project porn.
  22. Oooh, I like the maroon idea. Black cars are everywhere. Though that *would* be a good candidate for driving with the old-fashioned patina.
  23. Hooray! I hope to be able to say the same soon, and in less than six months.
  24. Found an "explorer's" video of this salvage yard on YouTube. It's a couple of years old, but I'd bet most of the stuff hasn't moved an inch since. ... That said, there's a lot of cars that don't look like much, but a few that definitely do. And here's a thread at another site with photos from about three years ago, and some of the pics are missing. Still, you can see some things.
