  1. Nice car but way over priced. I have a soft spot for 37 Fords, my first old car was a 37 Ford pick up, still got it 30 years later!
  2. I remember back in the 70's a poster that said it all, Patience my a$$, I'm gonna kill something! It was two buzzards sitting on a tree waiting for some road kill.
  3. Most original paint is going to be thin so watch out with the buffer, as said it will either burn or go through before you know it. FlyingDutchman, If that is not a repaint i would be amazed.
  4. I went back to the old guy in town with a real parts store as the idiots in autozone pissed me off for the last time. Tom is a little more expensive but the knowledge and parts quality are worth the extra! no more chain stores and kids on computers!
  5. I remember when that was for sale a few years back. As i recall it did not sell for much then, thinking somewhere around 22-25K. But the best part is he also has it as best offer so you can get it cheaper! Look at the repair job on the floors!
  6. Carroll Shelby, an international automotive icon who rose from a bed-ridden childhood in Texas to build one of the most iconic sports cars ever and become a world-champion racer died Thursday at the age of 89 after a lengthy illness. His cars will live forever. A winner at Le Mans in 1959, a driver in everything from Formula 1 to the Bonneville Salt Flats, Shelby's lasting impact will be the cars he built, namely the Shelby Cobra 427 that beat Ferrari in Europe and his variations of the Ford Mustang that he was involved with from the 1960s through his death. Throughout his career, Shelby battled and overcame his physical limitations, from racing crashes to a congenital heart defect that required several surgeries and eventually a heart transplant in 1990. Born Jan. 11, 1923, in Leesburg, Texas, Shelby was the son of a rural mail carrier. After being confined to bed for much of his first several years, his heart grew strong enough for Shelby to take an interest in cars. During World War II, Shelby served as a flying instructor, and wrote letters to his fiancée by putting them in flying boots he'd drop on her farm. Married with children after the war, Shelby began a racing career that quickly rose to international acclaim. After rushing to the track for his early races wearing the same bib overalls he wore at his chicken farm, the look became his trademark. Sports Illustrated named him driver of the year in 1956, and Shelby won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959 -- driving some races with a nitroglycerin tablet under his tongue.
  7. $$$
  8. Their was a thread on the hamb about 8000 dollar paint jobs and how the guy thought it was outrageous till he did his car now he thinks it is ok. a lot of work that people don't realize goes into a nice job and how many times you have to do the same thing time and time again till it is perfect. and when that one spot gives you trouble it don't help matters any. keep up the good work!
  9. Hmmm Big dollar forged pistons= big shot of nitrous!!
  10. Looking good Lee! Just think in a few weeks you get to block off all that nice primer then go for some color!!
  11. If you know somebody that has a lathe they could turn it down if their is enough meat on it.
  12. Like Tim says change the crank and fan pullys, thats what i did on my 50 P19. I did not want any gm junk on the Mopar!
  13. If you will look most of the cars today run tube type exhaust "headers" from the factory. Not the greatest quality but much better than the cast logs of past.
  14. Nothing in your post is correct, except for the heavy foot. Headers will improve the exhaust flow and eliminate back pressure therefore making more hp. Splitting will do the same just not as much as headers. It takes more that just headers to make the motor work right, as was stated mill the head to raise the compression, bigger carb (multiple or bigger single) headers and if you want to go big do the cam. You would be surprised at the extra amount of hp they get. By upping the hp/torque the motor does not need to work as hard to make it move or keep its momentum, in essence giving better mileage as long as you are not in the throttle hard all the time. the crossover is just for easier warm ups in cold weather and most will work fine without it or it can be done with a water plate under the carb if necessary.
  15. In my experience it is in most cases worth more in parts. A sad thing, but parts move faster than a whole car, finished or not. pretty much how i make most of my money these days, parting out cars and boats.
  16. Great news Randy, now go get pig iron!!
  17. Must be the guys with the post count over 10,000!!!
  18. First thing NEVER go to the dmv, big mistake! they know the rules yet the people at the window always play dumb and always try and get extra paper work and fees. It seems as though they get a bonus or something for the extra $$ they bring in. know the right way and it is a piece of cake. and by the way i have done at least 25 or more in the past 15 years and not one problem. I will agree that you should never do anything till the title is in your name. I know plenty of guys that use title services but i am a cheapskate. California has it's own set of rules that are nowhere near the same as any other state. As far as the vin goes they know how many characters are in the vin but not the sequence.
  19. It would have went right through as the dmv has no record of what vin goes with what year. a friend bought a 30 plymouth that had been registered as a 31. another p-15 i know of is registered to the body id tag on the firewall. they only know what is on the statement of facts and that is what it is registered from when they are off the computer and no record. why pay someone to do it when it is simple to do yourself.
  20. Speedway has all kinds of mounts and they are pretty reasonable. just keep the damn hood shut when you are done!
  21. HeHe now you are learning!!!:p And by the way it is proven, many times over!
  22. A collection can be from your first car to your 100th car. Why do you guys always question everything?
  23. Bingo! winner winner chicken dinner!!! a collector car that is part of your collection is exempt from back fees as long as it has not been on the road and gotten any tickets, if it is off the dmv computer it is a walk in the park!
  24. Look around town and find someone who has a 3 or 4 car hauler and see if you can strike up a deal. if i had a tow going back that way i would be glad to do it for ya, i can haul 3 with the trailer i have now, i sold the 4 car a few years back.
  25. PM sent!
