PA, so I install glass 1st, THEN place the ss trim in the rubber?
-
Makes sense Yes, stainless steel trim on my D24 Custom. This is the only tricky part is seems. Ill see. I've done a couple of windshields years ago with the rope trick. Worked well I recall. Keeping the trim, silicone, and glass all together will be fun. ?

Help please as I am ready to install the rear glass. 1. Is a sealer still needed? If so what type, silicone, etc 2. The rubber gasket. Do I place the two ends meeting at the top, bottom, side?? Thanks all.

Dan, So long ago I took it apart. But I packed this with the HO, and it's hardware. May have been a PO using what was laying around.
-
Perhaps, good a guess as any.
-
Greg Same configuration but thinner. Short end is 1/4" x 20 thread. I had it packed away with the hood ornament but darn if I recall why.
-
Lol Keep looking, ill be there in 12 months:-)

Frank, That would look cool. Maybe build in a hollow place and install a light. I think some of the Pontiacs had light up hood ornaments, Chief?
-
Could not resist topping it of early! Please refresh my memory on this stud. Does it have a function related to the hood ornament?

I'll measure these against the new channels tomorrow. I finally found another thread that explains it well. The rollers ride on the top edges if these lower channels. The interior with the soft material is where the glass travels.
-
Thanks Rich, We'll see about that. Hope I can get the whole job done by next summer. ?

Started window channels today. Front doors. New clips from Restoration Specialies. Seems the exterior trim, and interior garnish do most of the work holding these in.

Help please with this topic. These are the lower channels in the front door. Question, do I install the fuzzy "U" channel in these?

Long story: Approximately 12 years ago I had all bumpers, etc chromed. I peeked at a few pieces, kept them wrapped up. And put away. Till today, I laid out all the front parts, including this grille guard. Now it's been close to 40 years since I disassembled this D24, so when I couldn't make heads or tails out of attaching it, I just figured that I had lost some brackets. Some of you remember NU Chrome in Massachusetts. They did a good job on my parts, but when they closed up a few years ago they screwed lots of people out if money and/or parts. Seems they got me after all, and somebody else that should have this one. No idea what car its for but not wide enough for the D24. Hope I can find another one some day.

Hi Frank, Well I have the fog lights. And I HAD the grille guard bar. Long story I'll post soon. Today I installed the front bumper.

Rich, That's bad ! I thought for sure due to no Hershe, Carsile would be packed. Wierd Ed was not there. YES 2021 for us all !

Beautiful! Fine accomplishment to be proud of, for sure.

Yes ! Looks and feels good. Many years of gathering and preparing parts to get to this.

Easy on the epoxy limits sanding. Spinning the wheel while painting kept the drips away. I learned both of these things the hard way.
-
Before and after steering wheel. Old wheel had only one large crack and to tiny ones. It was still a very tedious job! Sanding epoxy, and getting the paint right was slow steps. Pretty happy with results.

Rear stone shield. Interesting challenge here. One of the welded speed nuts was missing. I was able to carefully insert a nut with attached star washer through a slot near the bolt hole. Lined it up and slowly grabbed the threads. Whew !
