  1. No, that is a very good response. I totally agree. I do have a big ego but there isn't much point in using it on a car board. And really, there isn't much reason to use it anywhere. However, seeing how you're perfectly right about the written word, I guess we all have to be more careful. If in doubt, just be courteous. But it's impossible for a group of people to think or react alike anywhere in life, so why should it be any different here? Maybe if this were a group that meets together in a room every week or month, it'd be different. (And the italic sign is to the upper left of this frame just to the right of the "B". Highlight a word and hit the sign.)
  2. Yours is a typical reply that we're all talking about. Apparently we all can't get along, and this issue has been raised before but it always seems to crop up again. I ask you why.
  3. How do you block someone and how does it work?
  4. Why what?
  5. I agree with Plymouthcran Brook. I hesitate to ask help anymore because I know I won't pass muster and get past certain folks on here. So I just watch and wait to see if my questions are answered by somebody else. I will say that this site is about the only place in my life that can make me lose my cool "in public." Criticism is fine if it has a constructive purpose. But it sounds very malicious for some.
  6. Thank you RobertKB!
  7. Sorry, I thought this board was for that type of information.
  8. About how much does White Post charge per cylinder to re-sleeve? They don't seem to list prices on their site.
  9. Thanks, that's what I thought. Two jack stands, at the end I'm working on.
  10. At least they have good taste!
  11. If a concrete slab is an inch off level lengthwise toward the rear of the car, does it makes any difference when jacked up? The width of the slab is level.
  12. Don, for a guy to buy his sons a Strat and a Martin, you must know something about guitars, egh?
  13. I had a strat years ago when I was in the music biz. That's a nice looking one. Is the acoustic a Martin?
  14. That looks like a Strat.
  15. Yeah, I've had Carlo for seven years and do what I can when I can. Right now I've had to stop and build a garage for it.
  16. I bought also bought one on ebay and I didn't pay that much either. But it worked great.
  17. My wife got both knees replaced simultaneously because she HAD to. She recovered quickly and she's very happy she did. Of course, she doesn't have to crawl under a car or remove a dashboard!
  18. I thought you were showing a different car! Looks great!
  19. Be sure and do what I didn't, at least not enough. In my eagerness to get working, I now have a lot of fasteners that I have to look through books and photos to identify. And I didn't take photos prior to when I took a part off. I'm being a lot more careful now in cataloging parts.
  20. Thrashingcows has some great photos of his hand brake assemblies, both dirty and cleaned up.
  21. On my '47 De Soto S-11, the bolt thread for the the floor board hold downs is 1/4-20. It looks to be a larger washer on Thrashingcow's S-11 floor board. I believe his was a Canadian made De Soto. I admit the 1/4-20 washers do not seem big enough. They do cover the holes, and the threads are definitely 1/4-20 in the floor, but I am somewhat puzzled by the difference in size. Anybody out there who has an S-11, could you tell me the bolt size of your floor bolts?
  22. Those bolts and washers you posted. Are there two sizes? My parts book says there should be sixteen 1/4-20 floor board hold down bolts. Do I see two sizes of washers there, i.e., bolts? And the solenoid cover, the curved one (assuming yours is the same as mine) it takes five bolts. Should also be 1/4-20.
  23. Your Windsor is so close in body design to my S-11 that our parts must be more or less interchangeable to a great degree. What I am in need of most is where certain bolts and washers go. I didn't label them all in my haste to take the car apart. Those floor pan bolts match mine. Maybe I can post some photos of others and you can tell me where they go.
  24. Thanks for the photo. That helps a lot.
