Truck is tagged. Been driving for 2 months.Pics are pending. I also have a write up to do on rehabbing floor boards.
Right now the truck is kicking my butt. I have a bad brake light switch, need to tighten the steering, and track down an oil leak.
As for the overdrive I need to get my speedo calibrated and tighten up my steering box before I test my overdrive too much. The steering is a bit loose for my comfort. But power wise I think I will be fine. (Realize that here in Idaho I live in a relatively flat valley so I have not tested it too much yet.)
I am sure there are many problems with these but this fixed some of the sagging and inability to open from the outside and at the same time I fixed a return spring mechanism.
Take a look at my blog for the instructions.

Change the oil? I just keep my oil pan leaky enough that I need to put new oil in about once a month. Keeps it clean! (That's what Im telling myself until I can get that new gasket done.)
I'll be watching for his name on the Darwin awards list. We can only hope that we or anyone we love is anywhere within 10mile of that thing when it goes like we all know it will.
I'm hoping they just needed to move it 10 feet or something......
After reading about the Bonneville truck experiment it got me wondering.
What is the highest speed achieved by one of our beloved flatties?
Any Salt Flats guys?
Drag strip guys?
I'm gonna cry.
As for the back glass shouldn't you be able to use a razor knife and just cut away the outside layer of the gasket and pop it out?
Looks like you now have a lot of good SS trim looking for a new home.
I think we're gonna see this on one of those "life comes at you fast Progressive care insurance commercials."
Sweeeeeeetttttt!!!! I wanna watch! Before I saw the "Volare clip" I was thinking of how you were gonna hold the steering steady. Mine gets me a little nervous at times near 60. I do need to tighten my steering box a little.
Just do it under the floor. I reversed the lever arm direction on my pedal with a custom bracket and built a mounting bracket for the new master cylinder to bolt to the frame. Works great and I keep the stock pedals.
On my truck I can access the screw through a hole in the end of the door (mine was also frozen) but there it a hole in the inside of the door that I can see the end of the pin attached to the cylinder. I needed my door latch mechanism out so I put a metal rod in there and smacked it with a hammer and the cylinder popped right out. I still have to deal with the screw but I can do that later.
I've used all kinds of excuses to do things to my cars and trucks but.....if you wanted to chop it you didn't have to drop a tree on it to have an excuse. Sheeeeeeesssss. Some people.
Actually, I hope things turn around for you. Good luck.
Well Don, does my PH count? I've been tagged and on the road for a month now. Never drove the truck with the old tranny so I have no comparisons but it seems to do great. I need to get my speedo calibrated before I can send some numbers. It seems to cruise nicely however.
