  1. Can’t remember. I think bushings for sure. Not sure what else.
  2. I bought one about 7 years ago from him. It fixed my steering just fine. I don’t recall any problems with it and I’m probably the most incompetent mechanic around.
  3. Engine rebuild is almost done. Any thoughts about using synthetic oil after break in period? The mechanics aren’t sure about the seals being up to the task even though they’re new.

Any idea how much pressure I can run for my 52 Coronet? My engine rebuilder suggests a 15 psi cap. I’m concerned about that much pressure on a system not designed for it. My radiator is stock and in good shape.
  5. Idle speed is critical. Download the troubleshooting manual from the Imperial website and follow the steps to troubleshoot the trans. I have a 52 Coronet also. Mine was my daily driver until the engine went. It’s being rebuilt so I can rack up more miles. The gyromatic is bulletproof and fun to drive when operating correctly.
  6. Nice!
  7. The oil bath filter works fine. Just clean and re-oil every oil change. Or you can remove the original filter and run a generic clamp on filter. Doesn’t look correct but it will flow more air.
  8. Ordered from Kanter.
  9. Thanks. I’ll try.
  10. Help! Does anyone know where to find a vacuum advance unit for an autolite iap4103a-1 ? Bernbaum is out. Said it could be months.
  11. If anyone is interested here are the part numbers for pertronix. IAP4103A-1 kit is 2563LSP6. IAT4011 kit is 1362P6. Coil is 40011 for both. I’ll let everyone know how it works out. Engine kit is in so block can be machined. Can’t wait!
  12. I called Pertronix and got the part number for the kit for my iap distributor. They are very helpful. I’m keeping the breaker plate in case of failure. Also need a new vacuum advance. The rebuilder can’t figure out how I drove the car as long as I did with all the problems. Hopefully I’ll have my baby back soon.
  13. Doesn’t seem like anyone likes pertronix. Are they that bad? I’m not having issues with the stock setup, I’m just getting lazier as I get older. If I can’t do a simple bolt on conversion I’ll leave well enough alone.
  14. I’m having my engine rebuilt and I’m just trying to eliminate future problems. I drive my Coronet about 3500 miles a year. It’s my daily driver until they start salting the roads. No problems so far with the ignition and yes that’s the distributor that’s in the car. Who knows why?
  15. I’m having trouble finding a conversation kit for my autolite iap4103a-1 distributor. Pertronix doesn’t seem to have a kit for it. Is the consensus that I should stick to points and condenser?
  16. I haven’t been on this forum for years. It’s nice to see that there is still help out there. This was a big help in getting my D24 on the road years ago. Thanks again.
  17. Thanks for the suggestions. I’m trying a local company that my employer works with. This isn’t really their thing so it’s good to have options.
  18. Similar but single pulley.
  19. I’m having the engine rebuilt in my 52 Coronet and the harmonic balancer is rough. Can it be bolted together or do I need to have it rebuilt? If so any ideas where? Also the temperature sending unit broke when it was removed from the head. Any idea where to find one?
  20. I ran across an old post where someone used 2x3 rectangular tubing to fab rockers for their car. I would love to see a reprint of this. It seems it would be a much sturdier repair. I have a 48 D-24 with bad rockers and floor. The floor won't be too bad, but rockers are another matter. I'm way too stubborn to give up on a good running and driving car just because the bottom is gone.
