  1. Got myself a sedan, took ten years to find the right one ( and save the $). Next comes the business coupe, wife says yes if I stick to the same schedule.
  2. I ordered an OEM replacement on ebay two weeks ago and replaced mine without issue. Here's the one I got... http://tinyurl.com/d7klz3k
  3. Hello from Central Massachusetts Joel! Love to see your car in person one of these days. It looks to be in great shape. There was a dodge for sale down here in Mass recently and it looked a lot like the car you've got there. Best of luck with it. I've had my plymouth for about a year now and it's been nothing but fun to work on and to tour with. The folks you'll find on this site are nothing but helpful when it comes to challenges. When you have time explore the search function and you'll find that a lot of the questions you'll have in the coming years already have answers provided. A couple of us on the site from Massachusetts are getting together on the 12th of May down in Hanover Mass to drink a couple beers and talk shop. Not sure if your car is healthy enough for the run, but you'd certainly be welcome with or without. This weekend I am meeting a couple of the New Yorkers in Rhinebeck at a car show on Sunday. So on top of the good advice you'll find there's some great people in here as well.

We'll meet at Moose's house in Hanover - I'll let him send you the address as I don't have it handy here at the office.
  5. http://www.restorationstuff.com/featured6.html Haven't bought from them, but the site is on my future vendor list.
  6. Any requests for regional Boston cuisine? Happy to oblige. I found an old friend last night who offered to keep me company on the ride out and back. The makings of a great tour are in place.
  7. I'll be there. Not sure what my arrival time is going to be, but guessing 9:30am-ish. Shotting for a 6am departure from Bolton. I'll be covering 174 miles in 3.5 hours if I stick to the highway. But there's some real scenic country in SW Mass that I wouldn't mind seeing again. So I'm thinking rt.90 to Stockbridge then south on rt.7 to Canaan CT, then SE on 44 to the NY border and on in to Rhinebeck on 199. What time you all going to be there?

Wife informs me that the 13th is mothers day, so I guess the 12th would be better. Mid to late morning arrival sound good?

Nice! Now help me find a finned head! PS was that Scarlet I saw in the background watching Dad play..?
  14. My recent saga of a blown head gasket... I've checked torque a few times now and was surprised to find several bolts that still need a twist or two to get to 70 ft/lbs. I did go with all new head bolts from Bernbaums. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=31705&highlight=stuck+valve
  15. Good question - short of cutting my own from gasket material, I'd love to know if anyone has found these?
  16. Randy - I'll give that a search. Thanks for pointing it out.
  17. Thanks for the suggestions gents, I'll give these a try.
  18. Registration card arrived in the mail yesterday. Everyone else got there's? I put it in the car, but I beleive it said section 39.
  19. Bob I tend to agree with your statements, and recall never looking at old fords when it was time to find a project car. I did drive a friends stock 1947 four door the year before I started to look, but don't recall being overly impressed with the 5HP from the two extra cylinders. Fords of that year made 100 HP from a 239ci engine, Mopar inline 6's made 95hp from 217.8 with far less internal components to go awry. Other than a few volvo's I've driven GM products and a few fords since I started driving in the early 80's, but the Plymouth I have is the first mopar. I really fell in love with the cars appearance before I learned about its realiability and toughness.
  20. The FORD V-8 club held there 42nd annual flea market and car show at the Fitchburg Mass airport this morning. They where lucky enough to get a few hours in before the drizzle and rain started. Sadly I arrived at 9am to find many of the vendors packing up due t the impending rain. However, i did get to walk the aisles and was very impressed with the variety and assortment of parts that was present, literally something for everyone. If you're in the area next year you might want to consider attending. Admission was $5- Even with the threat of rain there was at least 100 cars present. I took a few shots of the stuff that was for sale. The red '48 had a price tag of $12,9- and was in real decent shape. The black two door was a '39 and was a running recent barn find original. Engine shot is from the '39 as well. As I was leaving the gate I bumped into a friend from my local club and he told me he was chasing the owner of the '48 with an offer.
  21. Last couple of cruises I've noticed that I could smell gas inside the cabin of the car. Today I spent the day in the garage detailing and noticed that the bowl gasket is wicking gasoline from the bowl. I rebuilt the carb last year with a kit from Roberts. I've tightened the cap screws as tight as I dare without stripping threads or breaking the casting. Anyone else ever expirienced this? Wondering if I should go for another carb rebuild....
  22. Bought one of these a month ago in anticipation of a break job this summer. Thankful to see this posting and the warnings/advice.
  23. Best of luck with the "new" D24 Ernie. You'll get a lot of responses from the folks in this forum however my advise, be specific with your questions and supply photos when possible. - Mark
  24. Well, as a true new englander, I can attest that what I ate today was clam soup... It was not chowder by any stretch of the imagination. I wouldn't reject it if offered, but wouldn't pay for it again either. But life is short and the world is large. Best to try many things and dislike a few rather than not try at all.
