  1. Just came back from the Portland swap meet..............Four days of steady walking looking at old car parts and old cars.....one of the largest meets in the US......The only parts I could find specific to my P12 were some Fenton Headers....the vendor was silly in his pricing....$700....They are still there. were last year and I am sure they will be there next year....Are there any swap meets where you can find parts for the old Mopars?....Lots for the other guys.....
  2. It is not a real mystery to overhaul them....get a Borg Warner manual and it lays it out well....just a trick if you do your own....use an elastic band to hold the rollers on the sprag clutch. It will do no harm left in the trany
  3. I can offer two ways....... First.....brake spring pliers have been made to hook up brake springs.....put the handle of the pliers throught the eye of the hood spring and then hook the end over the ear of the hinge and lift up. the spring will slide along the pliers and snap it is on.... Second....A bit more tricky....use a # 3 Phillips screw driver and use the same proceedure...........a bit harder on the knuckles......
  4. I have been pulling my hair out trying to find the source of an oil leak on my O/D......Thought I was going to have to pull it out and reseal it from scratch. Took the floor pan out of the car and there was the leak. There is a 6" bolt on the top , out of sight from the bottom. I noticed oil pooling around the head of the bolt. I pulled it out and found the hole is recessed for a sealing washer ( which was not there). I put on a seal and ran the car with rear wheels off the ground and after 2 hours NO LEAK........... Just so any of you who are building up an overdrive are aware..............
  5. Drive a buisness coupe and you do not have a back seat.
  6. Over time some people have tapped out the dipstick hole( on 230/218 ) and threaded in a tube. That way you do not need a flashlight to put the dipstick back in.
  7. Silly question....your idle is not to low is it?
  8. 17.00 for gasket set.............23.00 shipping.............5.00 for a roll of gasket paper, 1/2 hour with hammer.......priceless. Saw them last night...........somehow they do not look right...........I have an older transmission......always fun to look at e-bay all the same....
  9. My 218 is threaded........
  10. Does anyone have a source for a gasket kit for R10 overdrive on a 3 speed?
  11. Should be one, unless someone used a chemical gasket................
  12. Just loosen the nut that hold the bulb in the head....this will bleed any air....

  16. Turkey is much like Cuba........lots of American Classics...........rode to the airport in Ankara in a 56 Ford...........lots of early to mid 50's cars............
  17. Run the engine and check oil pressure and check for leaks.....then drive it just like you will under normal conditions.....all this breakin stuff went out with better metalurgy...unless you used NOS parts.
  18. We had a couple of small snow falls....had to clean the driveway twice....lot of snow up on the mountains......550cm on the ski hill.....18 feet to our southern friends

  20. Woke up this morning with a skiff of snow on the ground...teach me for bragging about our mild winter....The Antique Car Club had their annual BBQ today....to go or not to go...well after a little thought out I went with the 41...A short ferry ride to Quadra Island and then on to a winery tour and tasting. Finished there and then on to Rebecca Spit...Good food, hot coffee and a lot of people ( about 50) with the same passion for old cars...May have been a little slushy but the car will clean up just fine....
  21. Was out there last summer...could not believe how wet it was......Piniwa....Lac Du Bonet
  22. Just think how wet it would be over there if we did not take a big share of the rain....that is why I am putting in electric wipers....
