  1. We have some regular idiots here as well, for example my father who is 65 yeo and still dipping on a weekly basis through the ice. Daem, after forty years living in this area I'd never do that. I know, I'm such a pussy...
  2. Thanks for the tips guys, but I have had the taillight "items" nearly a year waiting in my garage. They are from one european car and need quite heavy mods before installing, but should look good and unique. We'll see how I manage to finish that job. I will post pics of them also when back working in the garage some day, not this weekend though.
  3. Migh be, supports the story kind of:D
  4. -12 F here (-25 c) and I hate it. My pal has his bachelor party tomorrow. We will take him into iced river, drill a large hole and he gets the pleasure to swim in it. And i'm not kidding. I'll post a pic later if i only remember to shoot one
  5. Awesome variety of professionalism here!
  6. No bull about that!
  7. The saga continues The whole butt has to be rebuilt, no doubt about that. The old taillight holes were patched, but not nearly by OK manner so I ended up redoing them And a bit larger portion on drivers side was reborn Actually the new taillights will end up exactly on these spots if I stick with the plan. Depends more or less whether I'm able to modify the lights I'm thinking
  8. If I tell you I have to kill you Compliance Leader in our companys Indirect Sourcing dept. Plenty of internal audits for our purchasing processes.
  9. Thanks for sharing, that Nash is awesome, and I wouldn't mind having an Henry J built in gasser style either!
  10. welcome to the club!
  11. I'm still employed as we speak, been within the same public company for nearly 14 years but you never know the next day. I personally volunteer to choke the one with my own hands whoever is the founder of "Quartal Economy". There's just way too much "Mickey Mouse money", layoff decisions based on market expectations instead of real life and such yada yada determining the future of everyday people. For example, the markets "expect" this company has 12% growth next quartal. They only get like 9% and the CEO says the next one is even worse. It's quaranteed that company will dive in NYSE and the workers will suffer, nobody gives a s...t that the company still made some 16 billion profit. They didn't "meet the market expectations" so at least they have to start cutting the cost and giving boot to masses, just to show "The markets" that actions are taken. No matter how healthy the core business actually is compared to others. That is so sick. My friends father is an true oldtimer. He made his career in papermill/pulp/wood industry, and was laughing some weeks ago that during his 40 year career they made profit in one year. Still no-one was never laidoff. It's only accounting. But todays situation is so much related to the fact that big companies are owned by some other interest parties than the people working there. All kind of Pension trusts etc whos only interest is making earnings per share, no matter the cost on the human or longitivity side. I'm not sure I like to see how the world turns when my sons are adults
  12. Merle, do you happen to like the movie Free Willy? (those cars you listed are pretty much whales:D ) Keep 'em coming gents, it's cool to see when someone lays down a model you didn't thought about, and suddenly start feeling the urge... to start browsing the craigslist. Does the "fever" ever get kinda overwhelming with you guys? Like when I saw my current ride in the net, there was nothing on the face of the earth stopping me to acquiring it. The whole scenario had all the classic warning lights lid on, and still I just got to buy it without seeing from the other side of the pond, and the rest is history (again said wifey)
  13. I've built and owned a few, but it seems I'm always daydreaming for some other model. So without thinking this a full day, what are your top 5 alltime favourite MoPar models you either have, had or wish for Here we go with my letter to Santa 1. '98 Dodge Viper GTS 2. '59 Dodge Custom Royal HT or STW 3. '60 Plymouth Fury 2 d HT 4. any 60's A-body (They just grow on me) 5. '68 Dodge Charger This is limited to five, I obviously like to have a dozen more than that:cool: I know that my current car would be on second place, if I didn't have it already. I know, it doesn't make any sence...
  14. Welcome on board from wintery Finland!
  15. I appreciate your words, thanks! Norm, the third sentence nails it totally, I just love to hear things like that! When there's willness, and a bit of "bravery" to start the job, the only end result is success. Nobody does anything perfectly at first, not even the second trial in most cases, but in my opinion trying is everything, one only gain skills by doing. I have noticed that nowadays when one can see the "perfect jobs" all over the web, youngsters don't even dare to try because "there are these professionals and I can't do it as good, I'm embarrished to show my lousy work etc..." That's sad, trial and error is the old fashioned traditional way:D I'm not the best on anything car related myself, but during the years I have learned a thousand miles and now after some twenty cars able to pretty much do anything myself. And ain't that the purpose of this hobby? And hey, I wouldn't weld a nuclear powerplant either, I'm just starting to find out how to manage these type of repairs. You'll do just fine with the way you mentioned, no doubt about that.
  16. Greg, actually I'm still in practising phase, I have a friend who lets me to use his sheetmetal tools, and let me say he is the man with steel. When I get stuck he always knows how to do it. But luckily I can still learn. Yup the dash was Stude, you are the first that knew!
  17. Thanks Fred, sure I'm sealing all the welds and coating everything. The weather conditions here are ideal for rust, so we have kinda learned to be aware with it. My plan is to remove the windows, just to make sure there isn't anything hidden under the seals. Gotta doublecheck also the area you mentioned
  18. Long time without updates, but I haven't totally stop working on this. For multiple reasons the garage time seems to be hard to achieve This portion of body seemed Ok outwards, but my magical magnet told otherwise. Gave it some hammer and screwdriver treatment and the truth was sad As many times before, carefully cut away the rotten part... ...and weld on some shaped and fresh sheetmetal Drivers door got couple of patches also, but then it's time for the biggest job on the body. The rear has HUGE amount of bondo which I can't tolerate. Take a look, there's at least half inch of it I ended up cutting away the whole rear panel, and major part of that area between fenders and trunk will go next. I'll form it completely new, with different taillights and such. But the main thing is repairing the rusted and dented areas correctly, getting the sahpe from starters more near what it should be, instead of creating the flow with putty Drivers side rear inner needed some TLC I have also installed new rear, Dana 35 out of Jeep, with clutch type lock and 3.54 gear. Should be fine with my NV3500 5-speed OD manual tranny. Swap was quite easy, I only fabricated new spring perches, cut off the old ones and welded new pieces into slight different location. Width is ok, but the old wheels don't fit over the axle center. That's fixable though, either some grinding or different set of wheels. And what a difference in tightness and tolerances after installing new bushings into leaf springs That's all for now
