  1. Not too much traffic on that site, I haven't bumped into it before. Plenty of nice iron there I see. I speak some swedish, norge is more or less the same but not so clear to me. This '47 coupe has been in northern Finland earlier, guys from Norway bought it from the artic circle http://hotrodkafe.com/47dodge.htm
  2. Tim nailed it, I just stripped everything down for painting. I have the original heater in otherwise working condition but it leaks. Dunno whether I have it redone or just swap into modern piece. I''m going with 12V anyways so a newer style heater is actually easier, no need for voltage reduction. Maybe I'll paint the heater nice and put it into livingroom shelve, it's just so nice piece. Actually a heater is mandatory here by the law, or some device to keep fogging away. But in our tropical climate I could live without one...
  3. We have an holiday today in Finland, so I took my chances and ran into garage before wifey wakes up:p Got the whole underfloor and frame + axles, firewall etc. painted with industrial satin flat black
  4. Oooo happy days are here again, got the yoke!
  5. Now I do Thanks a bunch Ed!
  6. Gary, what a garage you have there!!!
  7. Tim sir, I have the harnessess and PCM already. I have to go with custom build headers now, that progress has actually already started. Your smaller yoke Tim looks to be the right one, would you sell and ship it to me with USPS Air? Ed your latter illustration is of the bigger NV-3500 tranny. Internet info says it has a different yoke with 30 splines but I'm not sure if that's the case. Seems strange that company would build all teh trannys with different setups. Although I know for sure that auto trannys from the same era are different than manuals by the spline amount. On the first link the correct part is shown. Number 8 on the lower pic. 5209 7858 1 w/Man. Trans., Aisin Seiki (DDQ), Stamped 52097858
  8. Things are rolling slowly ahead, I just got confirmation from Standard flywheels that they'll ship the flywheel for me. So now it's down to find that darn yoke! And this is not a joke!
  9. Tim the yoke is 27 splines. I have no idea of the diameters but will measure tonight. *** Ok now it's measured*** - 27 splines - dia over splines some 1.177 " (output shaft) - overall dia of yoke could be something like 1.571" determined by the seal I/D I was able to locate this place in Brea CA that has the flywheel http://www.standardflywheels.com/partsearch_p4.php Now i'm waiting for them to answer will they ship overseas.
  10. Norris, my new setup is definately lighter than the original. As for the radiator I haven't been able to testfit the stock unit yet, but I'll try to get away with it. If not then some modern alu version. If somebody wants to help a foreigner, please grab a driveshaft out of 92-99 2wd standard transmission Dakota with slip yoke from your local junkyard and send it to Finland. I'll pay with Paypal? I haven't been able to find one locally, not even ebay actually. The front yoke is the most critical to find, the rest can be custom made locally. The tranny is AX-15 5-speed manual.
  11. Tim you are marbel, you gave me one measurement and three hours later it was done 5000 miles away. I appreciate this freaking internet every now and then so much that you guys within the civilization have no idea. Trust me, I really benefit the fact that world has "smallen" during the last ten years. Homeoffice connection not allowing me into my work email now Tim, freaking company firewalls, or was it fireballs. Natessedan, what a coinsidence, I have also EZwire set waiting for my puppy to be rewired. Although this build seems to have its own character, new issues landing on my turf faster than I can swallow. The "complete engine and tranny" I bought is actually missing flywheel, throttle body, exh manifolds, couple of sensors, yoke etc. so happy treasure hunting Fireball...
  12. No, swapping the engines is not unusual, I can't even count how many times I've done it during the years myself. Although this is the first trial with modern computerized sequential injected etc. so I think my thumb will end up into my mouth more than once before it's done. Just got the engine mounts done
  13. Okidoci, after 9 months I finally received my engine and tranny yesterday. Living in Finland really does good to my impatient nature. This is the messy starting point for conversion, and I'll update into this thread whenever this part moves on. I started with placement planning and measuring. I can only use stock co drivers side engine mount, tranny and drivers side have to be custom made. I cut off the original diagonal bar for tranny, and welded together a new one. I had to make couple recesses for the rear mount bolts to reach through. I made this mount bolt-in-off style, to make future tranny removals a snap. Welded sturdy L shape pieces to frame and bolted the bar into those Looks like the whole package fits in nicely, but with the stock steering it appears that a custom headers must be made, there's not too much room on that side even the engine is 1.5" to left. I'd like to get a set of stock manifolds but this motor is so rare in Finland that I doubt to find any. Also finding an yoke for this AX-15 tranny will be a challenge, not even ebay has anything at the moment
  14. Sure thing Gary, I did it mild custom style with airbag suspension. Geez, Fotki refuses to co-operate again. Well go to my homepage at http://www.angelfire.com/mo/racevaliant/ and click "Entiset lelut" link on bottom of the page and you'll see the Buick among some other cars done by me.
  15. Hi Gary, you are absolutely correct, learning by doing is the way. I use 1mm steel, that's .040" , closest to 19 gauge I think. But 20 is just fine. The red primer that I use which is visible in pics comes from a German company named Wurth. I'm not sure what would be equivalent product in US but it's great rust preventor and can be welded also quite good. That goes into bottom and then epoxy. BTW I know Jyrki and his Buick, we chat a lot back in the day when I built my '52.
  16. Some pics of my rust repairs (scroll down for rocker and floor area) http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=11865
  17. The one and only acceptable wheels for a true Mopar E-bodylover when the time for the last ride comes
  18. Save the whale! Or should I say Free Willy
  19. Even one D-24 was present, but a bit dissapointing material overall considering the fact that this was 30th show "celebration", but some pearls were there still. Full size photos here http://kuvablogi.com/blog/19338/5/
  20. Merles pic lightened a little
  21. Thomba, also in Germany, as well as here in Finland you will have plenty of Jeep Cherokees and Ford Explorers in pieces at junkyards. Either of those rears fit perfectly, I did put one out of Jeep in my car.
  22. Found one more orange from my archive
  23. Front bumper I have already in my possession Frankie, it'll be installed during the rebuild I'm doing. Color will change also, but I might keep it orange still just a different tone, pearl and clear perhaps. Mainly the basic looks will remain, just redo everything better, new interior, drivetrain etc.
