  1. That's nice to hear James. I know this method somewhat sounds like "TV shop" material, but it actually works OK in real life
  2. You can load Dodge and Plymouth fonts from here http://www.sharkshock.com/fonts/fontsaut.html
  3. Are the new tanks available somewhere? Is the design same in Dodges let's say from 30's to 50's for example? One possible solution for this particular tank might be to get it completely coated with fiberglass, if welding is not an option. So outside coated with fiberglass first, and inside with POR tank sealer.
  4. BusinessC you have made quite a trip from Trondheim to Rovaniemi to pick your puppy up. I also wish to spend many kilometers behind the wheel of my '46, depends ofcourse of the true condition of it which I don't know yet. All I have so far is the "salesman talk" that perhaps wasn't the whole truth about the car It's always an huge risk to buy these without seeing, but I'm mentally prepared for the worst, what's bad will be fixed, simple right? Gladly I have other MoPars for cruising if this one needs more TLC from the day one. Heaven fortyseven, I'm all original so my car doesn't have to be:D
  5. Hi BusinessC, we were just discussing this saturday in our Club that where did the coupe from Rovaniemi disappear, now we know. Small world... Your car looks fantastic, where in Norway do you live?
  6. I totally agree! BTW. I'd like to have my free meal served at "Järvigrilli" here in my hometown:D So you are welcome whoever hits the magic thousand first
  7. Thank's for the comments everybody. The engine is original flatty, it's running but the shipper told me that fuelpump is fault, I believe it is rust coming out of the tank. I already ordered new pump from Rockauto, and will do both when it arrives, pump and tank + new lines, just to be sure for future. Not too many of these in Finland for sure, although there's one red 48 club coupe just 5 miles from my house. It's solid and has been in shows in Finland. I will definately keep the mild custom touch, that's the way I am. If you guys are interested, you can have a look of my previous rides on this page: Fireballs collection
  8. Country Classic cars in Staunton was the seller
  9. No worries bob, I wouldn't paint them either if I'd be doing it over, but hey, ladies buy cars by color, I don't... I definately agree with the dash, I might have to learn how to do woodgrain. Does it say Fluidrive on the right hand corner tag?

    Gas Tank Rust

I have had very good results with this POR15 tank repair kit
  11. Here's some more
  12. Hi So here it is as promised, my '46 that is currently in shipping container sailing over Atlantic to Finland, takes at least for a month still. I bought it from Illinois, drivetrain is all original and some minor customisation is done to the appearance as you can see. Will be very exiting to get it home and see what did I actually bought:) It should be pretty much driveable, but I have plenty of plans already. BTW. Must be the prettiest front bumber I've ever seen put in a veteran like this...
  13. So true. My garage ain't that big, I work there alone, and still I'm able to get tools missing daily basis
  14. Looks good. After you have finished the welds, remember to put some kind of rust prevent to the backside, or you'll end up doing this again shortly. It's amazing how fast unprotected welds get rusted.
  15. To me that pressure doesn't sound that bad at all. Rule of thumb is that you need 10psi for every 1000rpm. So 25 psi at idle is good, 32 at cruising speed should be enough.
  16. In this case the cure might as well be the fueltube that is seen in the picture, the bend on it sits higher than the filter/bowl, thus preventing fuel draining backwards. Perhaps...
  17. Now I get it

    Newbie

Looks good! I was just last week visiting Dallas btw. I like TX atmosphere!
  19. Thanks guys for the replys shel_bizzy-48: I will jam the server with pics later:D I like your car, mine is a bit modified towards streetrod/custom style, but not that much. Just skirts, visor, paint etc. minor. Drivetrain is all original. eric wissing: No worries, I'm still amazed how much the world has gotten smaller with internet for us auto enthusiasts BobT-47P15: Not many I can tell, after the WWII there was not that much Importing, and prewar vehicles were used in the war and destroyed pretty much. Anyhow the hobby of old cars is strong here, and we nowadays have thousands of veteran cars. But Dodge is among the rarest, I do not know any other 3w bigbutts than mine, but some 5w coupes we have. I have also '62 Dodge Lancer STW myself, that is not that common either Normspeed: Sorry my ignorance, didn't quite get that 57 part? Tank? 1947PLEVY: Thanks John
  20. Hi there Since my newest puppy is an '46 D24 business coupe, I thought I need to sign up into this board as well. I have found some great info already, thanks for that. Short intro: I've been around old US tin here in northern Finland more than twenty years, built and owned several types of vehicles from drag race cars to rod & customs. While I'm waiting my Dodge to arrive from States, lets chat!
