  1. I'm amazed at the work it took to turn that coupe into a 4 dr sedan. You can't even see the welds or anything !!!
  2. The ones I pictured in post #6 are still available I guess. $40.00 Woodscavenger has first dibs. Woodscavenger?
  3. Oh Cool ! I don't have to load this one up then. I'll just sent it to the crusher then along with some rear fenders. Damn rusty junk !
  4. Yeah, that looks just about like the E brake on my 59 Dodge wagon with a 361 and automatic 3 speed.
  5. My pimped out "Old Yeller" with some doors and fenders in the bed.
  6. That sure is a straight hunk of metal. Is it a repop or did you have a great body man?
  7. Does this happen during acceleration or deceleration? I've had a few of those floor shifters that would pop out of 2nd on deceleration so I would just keep my hand on it to hold it in gear.
  8. I just got a quote for a door glass on my truck. Prices ranged from $175 - $190 between 3 shops!!!! That included labor and new channel and window sweep. Man , prices sure have gone up since I had that done before. I get tired of hearing myself cuss so I'll have them do it. EDIT....Just got back from the shop with the low bid of $175 and to my surprise it's only going to be $120. Yahoo !
  9. Here's the location of the outside door lock. Just below the handle on the passenger side.
  10. Here are the window crank handles for the 51-53 trucks. Yes, they fit the square post. email me at regoevans@sbcglobal.net if interested. Reg
  11. Can you post some photos ? Can't really visualize what you mean.
  12. Does the accelerator pump plunge down into the carb when you open the throttle linkage to full throttle? I'm assuming it's not squirting into the engine when you do this.
  13. Here's a set for the 48-50. PM me if interested.
  14. Could you have left the ball out of the bottom of the accelerator chamber. If so the pump will not build pressure and squirt gas into the engine when starting.
  15. Are the spokes on these wheels adjustable ? Maybe they should be checked out for trueness before the new finish is applied. My guess is that any method of stripping would be fine because they were bare metal when constructed.
  16. Dave, I just looked at 8 of them on my shelf and all the bases are stamped steel.
  17. Scott, I have a list on my garage wall of the results of milling the heads on 40's and 50's flat heads. For the 53 Dodge it says the stock c.r. is 7.0. and if .070 is removed the c.r will be raised to 7.7. I've heard you can remove even more. The same list says a 46-50 Dodge ratio is 6.8 and if you remove .090 the c.r. will raise to 7.8. Can't answer the part about milling the block.
  18. Looks like fun. So from left to right ..........Tim,Richie,Wife #1 or #2, Lisa, Don, ? , Lou Earl ?, & ? Can you fill in the question marks. Your place sure is lookin nice Tim. Now I want to paint my house white.
  19. Yeah, I guess that can be done but I think it's expensive. I'd rather find a new or good used one if I can.
  20. I'm acommin too! with some extree doors and fenders.
  21. I'm not sure of the history of the engine. It ran great for a while when I first got it but then a valve spring broke on #8. I had the heads rebuilt with new everything and it ran good again for a while until this happened. These engines were use is the trucks in 57 and 58. Then in 59 they went to the 318 poly. They are basically the same V8 engines used in the trucks starting in 54. ( 241,259,269 then 315) Just a bigger bore and stroke I think. They were used in some of the cars of that era too.
  22. I'm not sure of the history of the engine. It ran great for a while when I first got it but then a valve spring broke on #8. I had the heads rebuilt with new everything and it ran good again without installing new hydraulic lifters for a while until this happened. The lifter with the flat lobe shows a lot of wear too on the cam end. These engines were use is the trucks in 57 and 58. Then in 59 they went to the 318 poly. 23. Dan, I have a hood ornament with pits. If you're interested in it email me at regoevans@sbcglobal.net. Reg
  24. The engine in my 58 Sweptside suddenly started running like crap last year so I parked it until I felt like finding out why. It's a 315 poly head. Today a friend and I removed the valve covers and spun the engine over. Oh Crap!.......#4 exhaust valve is not going up and down. We removed the valley cover and there isn't any lobe left on the cam for #4 exhaust. What the devil would cause this ???? So far I haven't found a new or used cam for this 315. Any ideas
