  1. Did you back of the 'minor' adjustors? Does the wheel turn freely? Check this thread from the Tech Archive: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=693 Tech archive is found here: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/forumdisplay.php?f=22
  2. If you can get your hands on a copy of this book it can be a good resource for you as well. I don't know what's up with the prices at amazon (perhaps the book is out of print?); You can probably get it from a local library though. Keep us posted on your progress! http://www.amazon.com/Build-Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge-Rods/dp/1878772171/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346077137&sr=8-1&keywords=how+to+build+dodge+chrysler+and+plymouth+hot+rods+by+tex+smith#reader_1878772171
  3. When mothballs were Naphthalene and octane ratings of gasoline was significantly lower, this old trick actually worked. Naphthalene has an octane number of 90 and gasoline was much less than that 'back in the day;' probably in the 40-60 range in the 1940's and 50's. Most mothballs are now para-dichlorobenzene and won't do the job - that said, neither would the naphthalene balls since they'll never get your octane greater than 90 anyway.
  4. Congratulations! That white and black interior sure looks sharp with your tux and her dress.
  5. Any progress in the last month?
  6. Anybody headed to the Symco Shakedown this weekend? If you haven't been there before it's a pretty neat experience. The owner of the property had all of the old buildings transported and reconstructed on his property to create his own "town." It's worth seeing. I'll be there Friday night, camping nearby, and leaving Sunday. http://www.symcoshakedown.com/Symco_Shakedown/Photos/Photos.html
  7. Looks good, Brother! Hang in there, that food poisoning will pass. I am hoping to see more pics in the near future.
  8. The appropriate responses to his query are "Yes," "No," "Yes with some time, proper mods, and $" We don't know anything about the OP. He could have been Chip Foose simply playing games, testing our knowledge, friendliness, and willingness to help. He has all the time, experience, knowledge, and $$$ he will ever need to complete this project and likely do it better than any of us could. Looks like some people bit on his ruse... Lack of threads like this are why I frequent this forum. I'm going back out to the garage now.
  9. Cross-posting from the Russian Motorcycle forum I'm involved in. This show is actually a well established car show, though the post below is geared towards motorcyclists. (they are trying to drum up some interest in a Sidecar and Vintage Motorcycle 'class') http://www.sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21319 food, drink, music, 50-50 raffle, etc. I'm told the $3 entry fee is actually a "donation" which will go to charity. Copied from the original post: Here is the flyer for the Father's Day get-together in Kenosha. If you're out and about, stop by either for the day or just for a little while. 10. Pardon my ignorance, I'm not much of a body guy. Where would one use such a product? (Aside from the lone example above)
  11. That's the best laugh I've had all day. Thanks! (Got blocked at work today Googling "BedMasterEx" which is actually physilogical data acquisition software for use in hospitals)
  12. what is that great price?
  13. No affiliation, just passing this along in case someone finds it useful. http://www.borthautoparts.com/make/dodge/1948%20Dodge%20D24%20custom%204%20dr%20town%20sdn%20230%206%20cyl/ more here: http://www.borthautoparts.com/make/dodge/
  14. First thought with that info would be that you're running too rich. Maybe a bit too much fuel coming in from that dual carb setup?
  15. I'm running 8deg advance, plugs gapped to 0.060" and it runs smooth as silk. All in all the HEI is the most pleasing upgrade I've made.
  16. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Seeing these creative parking solutions makes me feel a little better about jumping out of the car to officially put it in park. I will no longer feel sheepish about this but will hold my head high as a proud member of the p15-d24 community as I chock my wheels!
  17. Here's a couple of good reads from some folks that have been down this road before: http://turbostude.com/ click on "Enter" and enjoy http://biophiz.com/Turbocharging%20the%20Champ%20flathead%20six.htm
  18. Oh, I've got it now. WOW. That went right over my head. Good one!
  19. Not too sure what you mean by that (?) Ugly, as in attitude?
  20. I'm a Registered Nurse on an Acute Care surgical unit at the VA hospital. And a Chemist designing industrial lubricants for HUGE mining equipment and metal working fluids/coolants for machine shop applications....
  21. We moved into a new home with a decent 2 car garage last summer. When my usual storage spot fell through for this winter she said to me, "Take the garage for your Dodge and motorcycles, you can have it all. Why should a 1948 sit out in the snow all winter while our new cars get the garage?" Very understanding. I make sure I keep the driveway clean and her car swept off and warmed up before she gets in it.
  22. Anybody wanna get a beer?
  23. I'm shocked and near speechless. Norm was a true neighbor in every sense. I bought my dodge when I was fresh out of high school in 1996. It was that next summer in '97 that Norm and I met when I purchased a rear end from him. Out of our two bad differentials we came up with one good one - I'm 31 now and that axle is still in the car today and has thousands of miles on it. Norm was always willing to help, offering parts, tools, and guidance; and I feel I owe much of the pleasure my Dodge has brought to me and my family to him. I thank you, Norm; You will be truly missed.
