Any time you hear someone whine about pot holes check this out. It may have been around before but it's worth a look. Every time you baby your car look and see what they used to go through. http://www.youtube.com/embed/nq2jY1trxqg?rel=0

I did not get any response to my question. That means it was a really stupid question or no one knows the answer. These are pix of the two different sizes. Would the business coupe be that much smaller. It is a serious question.
-
I have a 4 door P 15 - while cleaning out my garage I found a left and right front door window garnish molding - but it's way too small for my car. While I have trouble believing this would a business coupe have smaller windows? I bought them a long time ago for the chrome piece and never even looked at the size. I can say for sure it's not for the 2 or 4 door sedan. Just checking.

So does that mean old age is when you go to bed at night and you know this is as good as it gets?
-
Good question. When I first bought the car nothing worked. I spent a lot of time with cosmetics and mechanics so I never paid much attention to the little stuff. I drove the car north for about 600 miles and it worked off and on and I just lived with it. I switched the wires on the sending unit on Sunday and the gauge went to full. The car has not been running at its best so I haven't had a chance to go anywhere to see if it registers all the time. Right now I can't rule out the sending unit. If it comes down to it I will take the sending unit out of my other car and see if that changes anything.

I got a volt meter with really long leads. I'm going to run a continuity check and see if all the wires match. I just swapped out the gas gauge and the next step will be to take out the sender. One thing at a time. I know from my experience it's going to be something small. thanks for the input.
-
My gas gauge will go to full then like a switch was turned it will go off to empty. It doesn't come on all the time and doesn't stay on once it is on. I thought it could be the ground. I grounded it at the sending unit and under the dash. No change. I was looking at the schematic and it has a 1 and 2 but I don't know which is which. Could I hurt anything by just switching the 2 wires? I have an extra wire under the dash that is the same gauge and color as the one connected to the gas gauge. I can't find where that goes. I am just so frustrated. I don't know why I manage to keep having unique problems.

Anyone ever see a D14 or D17 painted like this?....PICS.....

Didn't Dodge have a 3 tone car in the 50s. I seem to remember. I've never seen those pictured above though. -
Anyone have or have used a sandblaster?
Don Jordan replied to Grdpa's 50 Dodge's topic in P15-D24 Forum
I got a little hand held sand blaster at Harbor Freight. It's perfect for little jobs. I actually used it to clean the broiler pan of baked on ribs. I don't think it would be useful in doing an entire fender. Spark plugs. Under carriage. You know, little stuff. -
I hate to sound like an idiot but what is a Speedy Sleeve? I changed the seal in my diff. and it still leaks. Perhaps this could solve my problems. (some of them anyway)

I didn't think I could feel any sillier but I sure do. I knew I could count on you guys. I don't know why I didn't even think to look on the top of the hood. That's the piece 33". Now when I put it on e-bay I can correctly identify it. Thank you very much for your patience. I do have a shot of the car showing the hood.

THERE IS NO CURE FOR STUPID!!! This is why I don't go out much or mingle with the normal people. First, in case anyone wondered: the stainless on the door of the 2 door sedan - 39 1/2", on the 4 door 30 1/2" front, 26" rear. I have extra stainless for the side of the hood and the front fenders. Remember I said I was cleaning out my garage... Well I gathered up a bunch of stuff. When I went down to measure the piece (33 1/2") I noticed it was a lighter gauge than the MoPar stuff. It hit me like an anvil - the piece is from my 54 Packard (which I have since sold). I sure am glad I never have to see anyone of you face to face. I feel very silly and apologize for wasting your time.
-
The trim on the hood comes to a point. The piece I have is flat on either side. It looks like it should go on the door but it's too long. I will go measure it right now.
-
I'll measure it tomorrow. It doesn't fit front or back on the 2 door or 4 door.

I've been trying to gather 15 years of auto parts from my garage. I'm trying to identify stuff before I put it on e-bay. I have a piece of stainless that is too big for my 4 door and 2 door sedan. I'm thinking it might be off a business coupe. Does this look familiar? All the grill and hood pieces fit my cars - I guess they would be the same for the business coupe. I'm finding all sorts of stuff. It just adds up. d-

Great video... 1936 Plymouth torture test
Don Jordan replied to bamfordsgarage's topic in P15-D24 Forum
It's interesting how I baby my car. Look what they can put up with. And I worry about going down an unpaved road. Very cool movie. They don't even do that with modern cars. -
One thing about being foreign is it has left hand drive. Interesting he is using a crank.

I have been to 2 estate sales in the last month. Old guys (70s) just getting rid of all the excess stuff. I was looking around my garage and figured when I die someone will come in and just throw all the stuff out. While I was putting things in save or toss piles I came across this Volt tester. It's huge. I just got one at Harbor Freight for a buck. I started thinking about how phones are getting smaller and smaller. Computers. Remember when it was a big deal to have a hand held calculator? Anyway I thought I'd put it on the bay but I was wondering if it has any value. It's got the owners manual. Maybe I should keep in and use it. I'm finding all sorts of parts: garnish molding, grill pieces. Both my cars are done I don't need all the superfluous stuff any more. I guess I'm getting older.

P15 - propshaft front coupling rubber cover
Don Jordan replied to Robin (UK)'s topic in P15-D24 Forum
I got a rubber one from Bernbaum and it's all cracked. I'm not sure I'd use him. I see them on e-bay but they are over priced. -
I don't know - first thing I would do is a compression check. If that's good fire her up.
-
So I guess it isn't worth anything? Well it will look good on the wall. I paid $10 for it. Now it's wall art.

I went to a guy's house and he is selling everything. He's been collecting for more than 30 years. I got a bumper jack for $5. I saw this steering wheel and it looked like it could have been from the 20s. Little red sign in the middle said Peterbuilt. It just looked cool. When I got home I went on line I found they didn't start making Peterbuilt until 1939. It looks like it has been wrapped in leather. Can anyone place this? I would appreciate just getting close. thanks

This is from a while ago. I don't always get to things right away. I don't know if it works or what it's from but I saved it from the junk yard if anyone needs one.
-
I put it up on a lift, got the tires off the ground, put it gear and let it run. The shaft had a wobble. I took it back to the machine shop and later I will share pictures of the problem and the fix.
-
You guys are certainly free spending the money I don't have. The trunnion U joint has lasted 60 years I'm hoping a new one will last another 60 which is about 40 more than I plan to last. I asked how much to balance the shaft and was quoted $75. I'm retired - money doesn't flow in like it used to. When I hit the lottery I'll have all that stuff done. To show you how inflation works most people give their 2 cents worth - Rich actually gave 25 cents. Everything is going up. I guess a penny for your thoughts would net squat. d-
