  1. i dont even have running boards anymore!
  2. not really thinkin of using heat shields, if some dipstick finds that its a great idea to touch a nice hot muffler with smoke coming out of it thats their problem in my eyes. "I thought you told me once that you aren't into Rat Rods. But now you're starting to lean that way with this project." im still not into rat rods, just sending it my way more.. my classification of a ratrod is different engine, body, frame, etc. im just fixing things to either work better, cost less, or be more my style. i was always fond of stacks, so i have a truck with a stack now. and yes, there are provisions for condensation.
  3. got a muffler for a ford tractor for $10, whatcha think? its just mocked up for now, it would move forward a little and rotate, etc.
  4. local boneyard? what size rims are they/what are you looking for?
  5. im afraid to ask... of what?
  6. anybody have two whole buckets, mine are trashed!
  7. looks great man! im not painting mine, not yet anyways...
  8. door bumpers! available at www.mcmastercarr.com
  9. i learn from the best!
  10. dont test me! now i want that truck! great, now i have to add something else to my list!
  11. trust me, it works. works great with a gatorade bottle, nice thick plastic. the dranol has small amounts of sulfuric acid in it and that attacks aluminum, making hydrogen(strap a match to the side). if you set it up just right, then it could be made that way. it wont actually "explode", just blow a hole in the bottle. the only way to make it act that way is to partially contain the tin foil.
  12. sure, if you have both setups. come to think of it, neither system is neccessary on most engines due to blow-by (leaky rings) that create pressure in the crankcase anyways. a pcv cant hurt anything, though. its more or less just moving crap from one end of the engine to another, right?
  13. how/what are your spark plugs? what is the gap? try grabbing the wire again, see what happens. if im thinkin right, then it is just more resistance in the plugs than you, which means there is a LOT of resistance when it goes through you and a fender and a wire insullator instead of the plugs
  14. okay, heres an idea. a pcv system is operated by making a vacuum in the crankcase, so with the radiator fan going and the filter "top hat" faced the right direction, wouldnt that create a venturi effect (how a carburator pulls fuel) in the filter housing and crankcase, therefore making a similar effect to a pcv that is just much simpler. it may not be quite as effective as far as pressure, but the volume is much greater. does anybody else see what i mean or am i just talking at myself? (no, im not against the pcv setup, but im just looking at both ways, both as somebody who likes fixing things and as a professional procrastinator)
  15. sorry, but does anybody have proof that the PCV is so much better? in the end it is still just being put through the engine int atmosphere. as long as the radiator fan is working and the tubes are not blocked, the whole system should take care of itself. the fan will blow air at the tube and make the draft, and the tubes will have a "chimney" effect anyways. the only reason for a PCV is to burn the gases that come from the crankcase instead of sending them straight to atmosphere. a PCV is like lead additive for fuel or zinc tablets for oil, they are like a diamond collar for your dog. if it makes you feel good, then buy it. otherwise, it makes no difference. and yes, the 180 stat is worthwhile.
  16. i cant remember anymore, they moved ours 3 times now!
  17. just looked into it, no inspections and the police dont care as long as nobody complains.
  18. how is the grille and all that front stuff? headlight buckets? front fenders?
  19. i was almost thinkin about a single stack between the cab and bed, just black pipe with a muffler and flapper on top. anybody have pictures of a stack so i dont know it looks funny? i always liked a stack.
  20. i know the motors not stock, the front has been messed with, theres about 3" of space between the fan and radiator. sorry, i meant p18 motor.
  21. just about anything will work, im gonna do this in the end. http://www.dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/bed/tailgate_hinges.htm
  22. i wonder, would my 41' 1.5 ton be supposed to have one of these large motors in it? it has a P15 right now, so thats not right.
  23. funny, the guy i got mine from also had a chris craft in his barn chilling, looked like it hadnt move since the truck did!
