  1. Congrats,Jim. Well done! I'm envious.
  2. That was one of the best video's I've seen from YouTube. Those dang kids in those hot rods are gonna hurt someone!!! And not a "RatRod" in sight. Did they ever really exist? Thanks Don, that was fun.
  3. Too bad you missed him, Tim. I'm sure you both would have enjoyed the chat. I found a bill of sale from 1967 in my Chrysler under all the mouse souvenirs and called the number on it and the fellow listed on the bill of sale answered the phone. I got a fair bit of info, and he said he had some pics. I haven't got them yet
  4. Reg, on this pic, what is the measurement from the table to the gasket surface? Thanks, Pat I paid $500 for my Fargo, will this be more?
  5. M=Military...try Vintage Power Wagon, they'll know.
  6. All of the tire stores here still carry whitewalls. If they aren't in stock at the store, they can have them on site from their warehouses in any size in an hour, including wide whites. There are 4 or 5 national chains that have regional warehouses here.

  9. I still can't get by the fact that back when, the only cars with blackwalls were cop cars, cabs and the "frugal" old fart down the street who refused to part with the extra 3 bucks for that tiny bit of bling. I took my Dodge Ram in a while back to have the tires remounted so the whitewalls were OUT. Guy at the tire store thought I was nuts. I am, but that's another story. I like whitewalls, especially on an old car.
  10. Tim, relax, it's not a death sentence at all. It's likely Type II, which is non-insulin dependent. It's controlled mostly by diet and exercise. If you are a touch overweight or have a pot (sorry...don't know a PC word for it ) then most of the time if you can lose that, the Type II sort of goes into remission. Some brisk walking will also drop your BG down. They told me to have 6 small meals a day instead of three in order to not spike the BG too much. They have discovered that the up and down spikes are a very bad thing. Also remember that your body converts carbohydrates into glucose, so just because you lay off the sugar and sweets doesn't mean you aren't getting the glucose. Buy a Blood Glucose Monitor at the pharmacy and check your BG every day to discover what affects it an how much. That way, you beat it before it gets worse. 11. Interesting, my chiropractor told me much the same thing...that the upper radial nerve coming out of C6 was being rubbed by a calcium build-up. Apparently the MRI did not back that diagnosis up. The so-called real doctors dismissed the chiropractors theory but have not pinpointed the problem. The chiropractor also said that surgery would be dangerous and his treatments wouldn't be...surprise surprise:confused: Time to go doctor shopping again. Good thing I got the MRI and Cat discs so I won't have to do that again Thanks Marty, Joe, I won't give up yet...close...but not yet
  12. Allan, would love to have you drop by...the brew is always cold. Lots of work out here, property prices are cooling off a bit, rentals are more reasonable, but it surely is a crazy place to live.(Calgary and Edmonton) I was down near Lethbridge last week to pick up the Fargo and the pace and atmosphere was quite pleasant...just can't deal with the constant howling wind. Moving is a complete nightmare and uprooting a family is worse. A move of 3000+ miles is, well, not for weak of heart. Good luck on the job front. Money isn't everything.
  13. Rodney, I can sure sympathize...makes life miserable for sure:( No-one has come up with a reason for my right hand and arm to be in pain and numb and 1/4 strength yet. Pinched nerve? Carpal Tunnel? Crushed Disc?. Can't make a fist, can't use a hammer, can't even turn a nut on a bolt. Oxycontin is like a jelly bean...does nothing but cost money. Been like this since September. I hate these stupid machines like the Cat scan and MRI, I only barely fit and I am a bit claustrophobic if I am jammed into a tight place. Damn...sorry about the rant.
  14. I was surfing the net looking for info on my Fargo and came across this Journal detailing the restoration of a WW2 army bus/race car transporter. There are a few pages detailing the engine rebuild and the repairs that had to be made to the block and head by metal stitching. I vaguely recall hearing the term but never had known any details. Might be interesting for some. Those engines are huge! Link is to the main page, chapter Links and subject are at the very bottom of the page, engine pages are there. http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/dodgerestoration.htm
  15. Looks like a great start, Tim. Minimal rust, which is always a good thing. I see R&P under there? The optional taillights should be on my Fargo!
  16. Lookin good, nice to see it goin back together. We all care, that's why the forum is here. Keep us updated.
  17. I think it's Jon Robinson over on the DeSoto forum who has 1936 Chrysler. He racks up a whole lot of miles on it. Might pop over there and ask. http://www.duricy.com/~desoto/despatch.shtml you have to apply to get access to the forum
  18. I recall an article a few years ago where they said the technology exists to safely run a nuclear powered car for a hundred years on a spoonful of uranium or plutonium or dilithium crystals or something. (can't recall specifically) Wouldn't that get the oil companies panties in a knot!!!
  19. Wow! great job, that looks brand new. I hope you keep the updates coming!!!
  20. "as he says if it don't sell, it will get scraped." When a seller says this my eyes glaze over and I walk away. I take it as a threat and I don't deal with people like that. If it's gonna go for scrap. set the price at a little above scrap value and get the car into the hands of someone who will either save the car or save the parts. I have walked away from or not responded to many sellers and ads with this threat. This is a great car to save from the crusher. Joe Flanagan and others started with worse. Hopefully it goes to a good home.
  21. I would think making up plates would b the way to go because the liner is a bear to get off if you want to go original.
  22. That's a nice shot...brings back memories. None of those left around here anymore
  23. I have my 1946 Fargo 3 ton temporarily parked at my buddies Rhino Lining business. I've had a chance to see the process and as far as box liners go, it's pretty impressive. I'm not trying to be the advertiser for this stuff, but I had never thought of it beyond a box liner and box liners actually seem like a waste...it's a truck and it's gonna get scratched, get over it. But then I got reading about the other things this stuff is used for, like spraying the outside of fuel trucks in Iraq and Afganistan...bullets go in, the Rhino seals up behind it and no explosion and no leak. If it is sprayed on a cinderblock wall, a bomb placed a few feet away does only minor damage...the wall remains intact. Whoda thunk? Many other uses as well, including garage floors! The point here is it's potential hot rod/old car and truck applications, brought to mind when they did the entire interior of a first generation Bronco. It made me realize that Rhino is virtually the same stuff that is on the interior floor of my 49 Chrysler from the factory. We are all familiar with it. This stuff is now 59 yrs old and chipping off in most places. I had not really considered replacing it, I was just going to remove the loose and put Dynamat over it. After seeing the results of the Bronco I think I will have the inside floor redone with Rhino. It will be a good undercoat to prevent rust and a great sound deadener. I'm gonna have the inside of the roof done as well. I have read about the glue on Dynamat and the others failing due to the extreme heat possible on the roof. No such problem with box liner. It would be good for the undersides of my fenders as well to prevent stars caused by rocks hitting the underside of the fenders and also another area of sound-proofing. Possibly the underside of the hood as well. The Rhino is fairly thick, not sure of the exact measurement, and its got some cushion to it. I may try it on the inside roof and back of the cab of the Fargo...I think that thing will benefit greatly from the sound deadening! No, I won't be getting a deal at all, but I will do the prep myself which is similar to paint prep with a couple of differences. That might have to wait until the doc says it's OK As I said, this isn't advertising, just pointing out a hot rod type use for a product not normally used on them. Here's a couple of pics I took of the Bronco: Before: and after: They can do any color even matching the exterior, not just black and if you want smooth, that can be done as well. Just keep in mind, if you change your mind, it is an absolute bear to remove. To remove the Rhino from that Bronco, for example, would take about 60 hours on a side grinder in a respirator...sandblasting won't touch it.
