  1. There is a Calgary company working capped wells in Tenn.(I think!) They were capped years ago because the oil was to thick to get out economically. They are injecting steam into a new hole beside the old one and producing a fair bit of heavy oil that a nearby refinery is able to process. You have thousands of these old capped wells just waiting to be reopened. It's sure economical now!!! Environmentalists are making some reopenings impossible but not all.
  2. We are for sure being had big time.
  3. Great looking engine...well done!
  4. In Alberta, nearly 35% of the price of gas is taxes. We even have to pay tax on a tax. US Taxes, State by State: http://www.albertagasprices.com/tax_info.aspx Remember, the current rise in gas prices has nothing to do with shortages or anything else...it's purely speculators. But government still gets their cut, and they are drunk on oil money. If we get another natural disaster or another 9-11 type disaster, prices could double.
  5. Shel, it just dawned on me where you are...too bad, I had a nephew out there in St John New Brunswick, maybe could have picked it up. I like the yard pics, though!

  7. My old 88 Ram is long ago paid for, runs well is comfortable and trouble-free (mostly), so, my only ongoing expense is Insurance, oil and gas. Even with the ridiculous gas price, it is still only a fraction of what people pay who have financed a brand new hybrid to "save gas" Our city is so spread out and the transit so bad, you can't hardly function without wheels and I don't feel safe in nor do I fit in a little car, so the Ram will continue to be my DD Not to mention the fact that up here it's 10 months of winter and 2 months of bad sledding and reliable wheels is even more important. The Ram is still very reliable. As for my old car...it's nowhere near needing gas yet but it would come under the beer and pretzels budget. The gas is expensive but not expensive enough to break me...not even close. What does make me crazy is our own governments could solve this in a year by building 10 new refineries around the continent. But the oil companies don't want that because of the money they are making artificially. The prices are only being driven up by speculators, not expenses, or shortages.
  8. I had a 49 Chrysler front fender shipped into Canada from Washington state via UPS a couple years ago. Seller used an old refrigerator box and cut to size and wrapped it up. UPS had no problem with it.
  9. Hi Shel...love the yard pics! If you're going back, I would love to have the Spitfire head. It would be very unique up here in Canada. How much to prepay and can you ship? Pat
  10. Hey Charlie, how about some pics of the survivor? Must be a beaut.
  11. And this one as well...I think about Sherman Jones when I think I'm havin' a bad day and I realize I'm not...

  13. James, is the OD you mention for the 3 speed standard or the M6? Is there an OD for the M6? Pat
  14. Hope you feel better now. By the way, welcome to the forum
  15. Great job Phil!!! Some inspiration to get at my Fargo!!!
  16. My 88 Ram 318 was horrible on gas a couple of years ago and after replacing the O2 Sensor, mileage almost doubled. Now, it's horrible again and the code shows the Automatic Idle Speed Motor is gone. Lots of these newfangled things can affect the mileage significantly. I now know what the 02 sensor looks like and where it is but the AIS could be behind the taillight for all I know...buncha crap:mad:
  17. A bit clearer pics. Nice car.
  18. Have a great day, John. Happy Birthday!
  19. Hello 1949 Chrysler Windsor parts car: Complete including original engine (C45-XXXXXX) Original Radio, Original Clock, solid uncrumbling Steering wheel, Peckat Exterior Visor, Padded dash in good shape, all hubcaps and trim rings and a trunk full of misc. shiney goodies. 15 minutes from home. I've never seen a 49 Chrysler advertised locally ever. The Coupe was in Lethbridge a bit south of here. The floor is rusted and the rear body but the 4 fenders are great, the grille bits are all there. The hood ornament is missing but I have 3 good ones. Same price as the Fargo Will be kinda handy having an intact car handy to see how things go back together, my memory is fading even though I have hundreds of pictures and notes and labeled zip lock bags. I'll have to get what I need from the DeSoto and scrap it as much as I just hate to do it, being a city slicker, I do believe the neighbors may frown on a Mopar junk yard in their midst. (anyone near Calgary can have the DeSoto, just come get it, still lots of useable parts) No excuses now...to hell with the doctors...I'm back!

  21. This shows the little springs on the seat tracks of my 49 Chrysler. When you release the handle, those springs pull the latch into the slots (you can see them on the upper seat track in this photo) which then holds the seat in the position you selected:

  23. If you take the hinges off the cab post, drill a small hole through the hinges into the post for a small bolt to align the door back to it's original position when reinstalling. Much easier than fussing with the alignment later. (drill these holes while the hinges are still in place )
