  1. From the Local Kijiji Doesn't look too bad from the pics...minimal rust at least. Just about 10 miles from Calgary. "194? (probably 1946-1948 but not sure) Plymouth Special Deluxe - Model P15C, Club Coupe - Shell Only - Hood and right rear fender inside car Located near Chestermere Best offer will take it." http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-194-Plymouth-Special-Deluxe-Shell-Only-W0QQAdIdZ120766909
  2. You should put something on that itch!!!!
  3. Thanks Joe. Your project updates have really kept me motivated. Up here it's 10 months of winter and two months of bad sledding!
  4. Yup, I did. We are having a couple of days of crappy weather after a fantastic weekend and they say this weekend will be sunny and warm here. I'm hoping to get the disc brakes and wheels on the Chrysler this weekend, then bolt the engine and transmission together to get ready for installation. It's nice to be feeling so much better after this long lay-off . Still very weak but that's getting better daily. My buddy is still here in Calgary, he's heading east in a couple of weeks after his wife gets settled in her new job. The economy here is still OK for her business. I'll be going out likely mid-May. I still have a job nobody else wants so I'm safe, too:eek:
  5. I think eBay does their own thing and to heck with what sellers OR buyers think. eBay knows best, you know. I was done with that outfit a couple of years ago...they remind me of a bank or insurance company with the pompous arrogant way they treat people, and the million and one nickel and dime charges.
  6. You should invite Bob Vila...he'll show you how to do it!!!! I hear he has an old car, too.
  7. Fred, the difference is, we have almost zero humidity...you have a big huge puddle on your doorstep!!! Our Chinooks are very dry as well, the Rocks sweep the moisture out as the air comes over. I had a rude awakening that year!!! I remember standing in the back of a delivery truck on Portage and Main by the Richardson Building one fine October morning frozen to the bone...and it was just fall!!!!
  8. WOW, that's a new one on me...good thing I asked or I would have screwed it up. I didn't fill those grooves on the last pan gasket I did. No leaks but good to know the right way to do it. Thanks alot for your help!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the pic, Steve...helps alot! Pat
  9. So they are just a gap filler in that spot to ensure a good seal? I think the last pan gasket I did, I just put a bit extra RTV in those corners as that gasket set was minus those rubbers.
  10. 1950 Plymouth Special Deluxe "A very well maintained original car in excellent condition. This vehicle was appraised at $7900 with a rating of “very good”. It is stored inside a garage, is never driven in winter, and is only occasionally driven for short drives in the city. Only 50,000 original miles with original paint, chrome, body, interior, glass, chassis, etc. The interior was given a rating of 64.5 out of 65. The appraiser said, "A very well maintained original car. One would have a hard time finding another 1950 Plymouth in this condition, with the original miles that this one has." 780-434-6113. $6,500 - no reasonable offer refused!" http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1950-Plymouth-Special-Deluxe-W0QQAdIdZ119226407 Car is Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (not mine, don't know the owner)
  11. Front? Rear? Now I'm confused again!!!!
  12. Will do, Fred. I won't have the Chrysler unless I win the 649, but I'd love to meet you and yours and see the old Chrysler. I did drive my first 49 Chrysler out to Winnipeg in July of '72...supposed to be a 2 week holiday, but stayed for a year or so...I found out Calgary doesn't have real winters!!!! Man that's cold out there!!! And I discovered we have tiny mutant 'skeeters as well!!!
  13. Fred, I'll be out sometime this spring or summer for a week or so visiting friends who have a cabin in Matlock...I'm assuming it's in driving range for a visit? Not sure as yet on exact timing but we'll be figuring that out soon.
  14. Nice car as is, and $1500 is a great price!! The Okanagan Valley in BC is a goldmine of real nice old cars, but they are usually priced high. Not too far from here, maybe I should fly out and drive home!!!! (I wish I had the cash)
  15. I'm finally working on the Chrysler after over a year! Feels great! I'm doing the pan gasket and I can't remember where the two little black rubber pieces go. I seem to recall they fill the space where the sides meet the end but I can't remember if its front or rear!!!
  16. Vintage Power Wagons has a whole boatload of parts for that style of cab...like a candy store almost! This '46 Fargo FL7 followed me home last year...I've since given it to my nephew. He's almost got the "new" engine in...should be running within a couple of weeks
  17. Tim, anyone who can cook well enough to make two wives happy is a gourmet something!!! By the way, anyone who really wants to lose the 25 pound ham the right way, check out "The Gabriel Method"...4 weeks and a 35 pound ham gone. One or two more hams to go...feel great...first time in over a year I feel great.
  18. I think sandblasting pot metal would destroy it instantly, and I doubt that's how they prep chrome for replating. The pit removal is a tedious process of grinding and filling over and over untill the pit disappears. It's something that requires some patience and alot of experience...hence the price. As with any coating, prep is critical for a great finish and that would be moreso on chrome. I'm not sure what you save would be worth not having perfect chrome in the end.
  19. Chrysler/DeSoto steering systems are completely different from the Plymouths in those years. The Chrysler/DeSoto box sits atop the frame rail and the Plymouths is inboard of the frame rail. 49-54 Manual steering boxes for Chrysler and DeSoto are the same as are most of the big Dodges, but the Plymouths and some of the small Dodges are different.
  20. Chance, the Fluid Drive refers to the fluid coupling in place of the flywheel only...it doesn't refer to the transmission, which could be a 3 speed standard OR the M6 Gyromatic. The M6 Gyromatic needs the electricals in order to shift...the 3 speed standard doesn't.
  21. D6M1 is for 1949-1953 Dodge 6 with Fluid Drive and M6 Semi-Automatic transmission. Models: D30, D34, D41, D42, D46, and D47.
  22. Not sure what to make of this. It's a bit concerning to me. http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=4826897
  23. Just an update for anyone who runs into this...after some searching I found that the remote start isn't factory, it's made by "nustart". Went to their website, figured out which model starter it has and downloaded the manual...whew!! So, you turn the key on and off 5 times in 7 seconds, then press "lock" on the remote within 7 seconds and it's done. I like the old simple Mopars much better...this is way too involved for just changing a battery!!!
  24. Whitewalls!!!
  25. No manual, Bob...what does yours say? Is it a 2000? Thanks Pat
