  1. NIGHTHAWK...that COE ought to be an inspiration to you...I forgot to ask but are you going to make a hauler out of yours?
  2. Norm..I am not sure if you will experience any shrinkage, at least not immediate shrinkage with the rubber. Todays products are much better quality material. On the drilling..I think I would remove the old and basically align and drill holes per the original with maybe a tad extra length at each end to butt agains the seal top and bottom..that way when you snug that puppy up with the pinch bolts it will give a tighter connection at the butts.. I think you are going to have some fun here...I like using original creme Go-Jo hand cleaner for glass/rubber lube...plus it is good for the rubber also. I use this original formula on my vinyl dashes and I have never had a cracked dash on any car I have ever owned. Of course I only own Chrysler porducts...enough said...lol
  3. I believe what Norm got was a piece of division rubber with a cross section shaped like an H Very generic in its application and NOT molded to the entire window seal. As for the division bar in itself, the Dodge is longer, curved on each end ad designed as the finisher for the window molding. The Plymouth glass is not as tall, the division post barely connect to the window molding threfore the need for the center connneting stips top and bottom. Further. I don't think I am out on a limb here, but assume Norm had to drill his mounting holes for the division bar and backer plate.
  4. http://www.maxwedge.com/years/1940dodge.html This link may help with body number identification for export...then again..may not
  5. the slight accent could be a kink in the exhaust pipe also...neither of my 1941Dodges have this tag, nor did the 41 Plymouth..my cars do not go back further than that. In the past when a tag like your was in place it was on a export model usually bound for Canada..not sure of Mexico where this car could be easily brought back across the border..see you are in Texas...I truly was hoping for more Canadian car owner to jump in here..we have a few...I have not researched anything on 1940 Dodge as per body/trim configuration that will define it 100 percent.
  6. I still thinking this is an export tag...
  7. I assume this was an uphill walk both ways...right Don?
  8. How can you not like a bonnet girl..
  9. Question is, do you have access to a good bubble balancer? Balancing them is not a big deal. I do not however call the thing they sell at Harbor Freight a balancer. Using a 4-weight system will have them tires running smooth.
  10. Hey 1950 Studebaker Commander, based on the single line script on fender and the hood ornament and wind splits...
  11. I know what you mean..basically was like when I was a young kid growing up..out in the stick...no such thing as trespass etc etc...now..its as bad there as it is in many large urban areas...can't really blame the people these days for posting their land..no one shows any respect these days..good ole days are gone. In reality..I envy those that can affford to live out in the middle of nowhere...when a trip to town was a special event...you need mailbox money for that lifestyle today...
  12. most of the time in the house doing dishes, laundry, cooking etc etc...
  13. I thought we sold Nebraska....actually in all right probably a excellent place to live...wide open spaces..few large towns...farming and ranching at its best.
  14. On the list posted, some states require originals, some will allow repainted...GA is a no repaint state..however I have seen a many that have been so guess it was after inspection..I will not take any chances...the trailer tag is a bit rough but for 20.00 it is still a bargain..I have new decals for the peach...they are available from a few tag collectors. For the record..if we have a TEXAS person here who has need for a matching set of 1966 plates..let me know..hey lucky number 13's at that...got a set of California tags here also...Black with Yellow letters
  15. Hey..Mike wouldn't do that...WOULD HE???? Hey you not raising cudzu on that front wall...or are you.......
  16. I only need one tag..but in 41 Georgia had tags in pairs...huge tags at that..much larger than todays standards..also the first reflective tag manufactured...AND in case anyone wants to donate a Teardrop..I have a tag for it already also...
  17. Not on the teardrop...everyone I have seen in used original condition has been very high priced IMHO and the new ones that are for sale on our local camper/trailer lot is just too new looking in appearance..as in modern...and the plans I have here are very nice, bill of goods, tools needed, source of material listed by part number etc etc...lets you make it to appear just as done back inthe 40's
  18. Mike, don't think cheap and teardrop trailer are ever found int he same sentence. They are a desireable item for sure...lots of luck in finding one..someday maybe one of them will be on my list also. I have seen anumber of nice ones out there..seen a few that were home built from plans that are available rather fiar price...you may wish to check them out...
  19. GA has no set limit on driving with YOM tags...that is between you and your insurance carrier....even if you did not have a YOM tag you can get a GA tag at no extra charge, no stipulations that has an mbossed antique car on it.
  20. SC got their approval just very recently...We here in GA have had YOM for years but just last year increased to include the 1970 year...that was about another 10 years or so addition to the old law. We also just got blue dot approval ..not sure if it is in the works for SC or not. I jave top admit GA legistration is vbery fond of the old car people it appears...so many little perks at no charge...
  21. grey beard..man show some sympathy for your neanderthal brother..Geico has them guys pretty much stressed out as it is...
  22. I sat on mine for two months..then got the wild hair to fill them out..then waiting 10 days to mail them..lost my last dependent this year...lost Sal's teacher credits...not good...luck to you...courtesy dictates that there should at least be a gun in your back..
  23. I remember all the brans painted with Mial Pouch tobacco..never cared for mail puch though..too sweet.
  24. Hey Don..you up early..trying to be the early bird on the April fools jokes...
  25. He is not crooked.(he did list the fee)...he preys on greed..his in shipping fee and hoping the bidder's greed (for not reading the fine print) thinking he is getting a super deal.
