  1. I want to get the news out to all our members about the new photo gallery that has been installed. You will now be able to create your own photo album for all your vehicles: cars and trucks, old and newer. Store the complete progress of your truck from purchase to finish. And now it's easy to share these pictures by linking them to the Pilot-house.com forum site, or any other website of your choice. Here's the link:http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/show/show.htm Give it a try. Sign on and create your own login and password. Then begin uploading all the pictures you want and share them with family, friends, and club members. I think you'll really like this new addition to the dodgepilothouseclub.org website. Let me know what you think, and have fun. Bob Koch DPETCA President
  2. If you want the owners and installation booklet that came with the original radio you can find that one the dodge pilot-house website http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/know.htm Scroll down and find the Model 802 Radio section.
  3. Can only guess that this must be a late '50. I think styles changed in 51 so it must have gotten the benefit. Or maybe it really is a 51.
  4. I always get excited when I see our trucks in magazine articles. Came across this one of a modified Fargo truck. I'm sure you'll tell me what you think of it. there's more pics in the article. http://www.customclassictrucks.com/featuredvehicles/0612cct_1950_chrysler_fargo/

  6. You're making some nice progress there. You'll be ridin in style soon. One note, you've given up the ability to watch the road go by with your new floor pans. Something about having an old truck and watching the road, from between your feet.
  7. Awhile back was a discussion about painting cars and trucks with rustoleum. A very cheap, but effective means of painting. Just got my July issue of Hot Rod magazine. A nice article on the $98 paint job starting on page 94. They take a car through the whole process with a pretty honest evaluation of the results.
  8. I had rust in this area and sure enough, the only way I could get in to repair it was to drill and grind out the rivets. I found some very nice looking chrome carriage bolts that will fit nicely once I repaint the fenders. I welded the metal from the back and don't think the fender needs such large bolts. So when I do install them, I'll just tighten them lightly so I don't crack the body filler. By the way - great lookin truck
  9. You have the only picture I have ever seen of Don. Glad you guys got to meet.
  10. If you need pics or other measurements let me know as my truck is readily accessible.
  11. I also have a B4B-108. You are correct - the boards are 60 inches long. The 53's are hard to come by as it's the only year they were made for our style of truck ( the big fenders). Boards from a 54 or 55 are the same length, the only major difference is that they style is not the same, but they will work.
  12. I think I have those past issues of Auto Restorer. Greg if needed I can dig them out and send them to you. I always like new challenges myself. I say go for it - and keep us up to date.
  13. Come on over to the Dodgepilothouseclub.org site, there's a page of info on this. http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/vin/model.htm
  14. Right here just north of Santa Rosa. Between Santa Rosa and Windsor at a place called Stokes Ranch. Just a nice show, no awards. Nothing pretentious about it.
  15. Let's just make Clements our community parts lot. You're not too far from it Reg, and I'm about the same distance in Santa Rosa. I'm sure Jim still has some parts as well as some of the others around here. We'll all combine our "stuff" and store it in one location. I'm sure the wife won't mind - right Tim? By the way - real nice catch there on the trucks. Which one you gonna fix up for your daughter? When she's 16 she's gonna drive one of them to high school, right? The boys will be drooling then.
  16. Went to a nice car/truck show and Marks truck showed up there. Of course, I was quite excited to find another pilothouse truck in my own neighborhood. Haven't met Mark yet except by email. I told him to introduce himself to the group as you all are such a terrific bunch. So welcome to the group, Mark. Here's a few more pics of his truck at the show.
  17. I received this email and I'm sharing it with the group here. Who can help them with their truck need? Give John, the editor, a call at the phone number below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Pilothouse, I am a writer for Motorcyclist magazine (http://www.motorcyclistonline.com). The editor, Brian Catterson, and I are currently working on an article that would involve a couple of motorcycles and a 1954-56 Dodge pickup in the Albuquerque, NM area. Basically, we are recreating the 1970 movie "Little Fauss and Big Halsey" which starred a '54-56 Dodge pickup and a couple of likable misfits (Robert Redford and Michael J. Pollard). We would like to find a Pilothouse member who owns one of these trucks (preferably in reliable but scruffy condition!) and who would permit us to use his truck in the article. The time window is approximately Sept. 12-17. Any connections you can provide would be most appreciated. Obviously someone in New Mexico or reasonably close by would be preferable to avoid the cost and concern of shipping. Thanks much, John L. Stein 805-565-2010 Former editor, Corvette Quarterly Former associate editor, Automobile Magazine Former owner (alas), 1961 Chrysler Newport convertible

  21. I had big plans on going again this year, and was really hoping a group of us could make it. But I have to move my mother this weekend. I've been trying to find a way to be in both places, but it just doesn't work. Jim, will you send the CD and booklet to me. I'll send the booklet back after scanning it.
  22. Come join us at the ATHS truck meet in Plymouth, CA. It's a great trip. I'll be there and so will Jim. Who else is coming? Need more info? Look here:http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/events/events.htm
  23. You're talking about power steering but also talking about front ends, so the article on the DPETCA site might be of help: http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/know.htm look for: Adding a Volarie type front-end to your B-series
  24. I had a crack in exactly the same place, on the passengers side. I just welded it up. Didn't know about drilling a hole at the end of the crack.
  25. lookin might fine. Good going there.
