  1. Just watching it makes me feel like a kid again. Awesome!
  2. If I couldn't own a pilot-house, I opt to own a 'Lil Red. Actually, I'm green with envy as I've always admired these trucks. They were the fastest American production vehicle built in 1978. Could beat out a 'vette in that year. Couldn't tell if yours is a '78 or '79. Nice goin Dutch
  3. I sent them a note asking if they had any pictures. Just curiosity on my part
  4. Article doesn't say where the truck is from, but mentions body and paint work done in Appleton and Darboy, WI. I think that's near you isn't it?
  5. As you might see, I get excited about seeing one of our trucks in a national magazine. I came across this article in Mopar Muscle magazine while searching the internet last night. Nice to see one of our Pilot-houses featured. I don't know when this article was published so excuse me if you've seen it before. http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/featuredvehicles/1952_dodge_b_series_replica/
  6. For engine work I've got a terrific machine shop here in Santa Rosa, but brakes are a tough one to suggest. I agree with Reg, look around, but you may need to do it yourself. You need to find a brake shop with an old mechanic that's been around these trucks before. By the way, you're surrounded by a lot of terrific pilothouse owners here in Northern California. Welcome to the world of "fun-rated" trucks.
  7. So glad you had such a great time and also congratulations on the award! A very good showing.
  8. 1949 Panel Truck sold for $15,660 on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=004&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=140095410547&rd=1,1#ebayphotohosting
  9. They generally came from the factory "aluminum" color. I know that mopar still sells a silver engine paint that is correct for this era. Probably others do as well.
  10. I kinda like the tow truck that's for sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150104312759&rd=1,1
  11. Also on the DPETCA site: http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/know.htm scroll down to: Information To Cut Your Own Truck Bed Lumber And Install A Tonneau Cover
  12. I had not been to the NADA site in quite awhile. I looked up the estimated value of my '53 1/2 ton and here is what they said: Low Retail $5,225 Average Retail Value $10,400 High Retail $17,300 That seems to be a big change from what I remember only a couple of years ago. Hopefully our trucks are being discovered and valued by more collectors. Don't know how accurate these prices really are but it's fun to see. You can plug in your own year here: http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5005-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5006&c=10&z=95405&m=1052&da=-1

  15. Hey, I'm55 years old and I don't look anywhere near that good. Where do I get a restoration? Nice job Harvey - it look great
  16. Doug Smith lives in Sunderland, MA and wrote me with this email: I would like to inform the group that very near my home a 1951 F-Model Pilothouse (B3F ?) is available for sale for cheap. It was running until several years ago when it was abandoned. I know the gentleman who now owns it and he is anxious to get it moved. It is in need of total restoration. I can supply more complete info if anyone is interested. It is located in west-central MA. It has dual rear wheels, 230 flathead, and was altered years ago for construction work. It has a boom crane and winch on the flat bed. Everything was working as of 2000. Been sitting outside since. It is very accessable. Anyone interested can contact me, dgsmith@bio.umass.edu. I suspect it can be had for about $450. We thank Doug for keeping his eyes open as he is not a pilothouse owner, but runs a 56 Power Wagon. If you are interested in this contact him.
  17. If this is the Dan from the DodgeConnections website then he sells and reproduces parts for the Dodge lil' red Trucks made in 1978-79. Welcome to our forum Dan and glad to hear you're working on a pilot-house truck.
  18. I don't know how they can call this a '53. This is the '54-55 "C" style. Interesting front end. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2411853
  19. Can you tell that I'm at work (but not working). An interesting '51. Never seen the diamond plate on the outside of the bed before. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2167645
  20. This 1951 Dodge Pickup owned by Natalie Marx of Aztec, NM was selected as Best of Show at the 11th Annual Colorful Colorado Car, Truck & Rod Show. http://www.blackcanyonclassics.org/car_show.htm
  21. While cuisin the internet tonight I came across this article on a nice looking '49 Dodge pilothouse. Nice to see us getting some attention in a major magazine. Take a look and tell me what ya think. http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/featuredvehicles/1949_dodge_half_ton_pickup/

  23. He says it's a 4 speed fluid drive - shift on the floor. Thanks Merle - hopefully that does it
  24. Bob cheek from St George, Utah has just joined us and has asked me to post this question for him. He has a 1950 dodge pickup with fluid drive. Shift is on the floor, not column. Does anyone have a picture of the linkage for the shift and clutch. would greatly help him.
  25. Here's a great opportunity to help all of us. People like Mar-K can only help supply us with some of the restoration parts we need if we provide trucks to them for measurements and photos. If you're in the area I encourage you to contact them.
