  1. The "stuff in the middle of the wheel" on your 1939 Chrysler is different from the Plymouth internals , and will NOT fit! The Chrysler Banjo steering wheel is larger in diameter and has a larger hub. The Horn contact parts are different and the larger hub size might prevent the horn ring from working correctly.
  2. If the Steering wheel was complete the wheel would be equiped with a horn ring. In the Center cap there would heve been a vertical "ribbed" metal molding that was specific to 1940 ONLY with the Plymouth "crest" embossed in the middle. 1939 Plymouth also had an optional "Banjo" steering wheel but the center cap and horn ring are different. What I find interesting is that the Plymouth's had Banjo Steering wheels made up of three sets of spokes consisting of three bars (one flat bar with two round spokes) on the Chrysler Banjo Steering wheels they are larger wheels and have three sets of spokes consisting of 5(?) round spokes each.
  3. Of note in the picture is the simple fact that the radio "holes" in the radio delete plate are for earlier model years including 1937 and 1938. The 1939 Radio was the same as Chrysler Dodge and Desoto for 1939. The radio delete as pictured is for earlier model years and aftermarket "retrofit" radios. I would imagine it was later in 1938 that Chrysler decided to equip the 39 Plymouth with the new style radio. The 1939 plymouth radio (Philco, Model C-1608) was a big heavy unit that had two vertical rectangles that held "preset" buttons and the radio dial with the speaker mounted in the center. Previous models had the radio "head" on the dash and the radio/speaker box on the floor. 1939 was the first year for the whole radio to be in the dash. It was so heavy that there is a thick bracket that anchors it to the firewall!
  4. There were many differences between P7 and P8 1939 Plymouths. However the closed cars had woodgraining (poor man's wood) on both the P7 and the P8 models. In the picture of the OP the radio delete plate removed does show the original woodgrain pattern, as it was made from the Chrysler Corp. Other differences between the P7 and the P8 include; P7's were originally equiped with: Only one tail light (drivers) One windshield wiper (drivers) One sun visor (drivers) Floor shift Radio Delete (radio grill and radio optional) No belt molding (6" spear that stops at the front of the hood) No 1/4 vent windows The lowest MSRP of all major manufactures in 1939! When they called it an economy car they werent joking! Funny how the least expensive car of its time has remained so attractive and capable all these year later.
  5. Desoto were the larger cars and often had beefier suspension/front end parts including larger brakes (11" vs. 10") There are so many 41's around I would invest the time in locating a 41 donor car for the parts.
  6. This is the exact reason that 1939 Plymouth sedans always break the left side trunk hinge. The torque on the hinge as a result of one trunk prop causes the left hinge to stress and fail. You will find 10 right hinges for every one left hinge for 1939's. One of the few design flaws.
  7. On a 1939 they look like a large upside down "J" that bolt on to the frame and follow the round curvature of the front fender. The 1937 model year should be similar.
  8. $1999.99 for a service manual? I could find the whole car WITH a service manual in the trunk for that kind of coin. eBay has gone loopy, but this tops the clocks, compass and fire extinguishers! http://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-plymouth-service-manual-1946-1952-2nd-edtion-chrysler-corporation-/380447500566?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item5894702916 The auction has been revised with a price of $19.99!
  9. Part # 868082 Vacuum cylinder Diaphragm for SIMPLIMATIC TRANSMISSIONS ONLY Application 1941 1942 Desoto S8 & S10 1941 1942 Chrysler C28 & C34 Located in the parts book "Underdrive Transmission Control parts"
  10. It belongs in a museum where everyone could enjoy it.
  11. I think you are dealing with the middleman The running boards are manufactured elsewhere However, if i remember correctly they act as a reseller for the manufacture If that is tru, they have no control over production or shipping time. Just a hunch that is why you are blue in the face!!!!!
  12. 1941 Plymouth that has been sitting for some time
  13. Here is a video of a 1939 Plymouth 3 Window Coupe Titled a Plymouth the right hand drive and 3 Window coupe makes me wonder if it really isnt a 1939 Aussie 3 Window 1939 Plymouth bodied Dodge? Too hot for me, but nice looking car.
  14. Hopped up Flathead in 1939 Plymouth. Great looks, even better sound. 230 ci flat 6, Saaty Meteor Fuel Injectors, Cam is .410 lift, 260 duration, ground by Earl Edgerton, T-5, custom exhaust.
  15. Runningboards were standard with an optional delete. Instead of runningboards there was a stainless steel moulding that ran along the rocker where the runningboards would have been. I believe there was also a rubber rear fender guard to protect the leading edge of the rear fender from stone chips.
  16. Looks like a 1941 DeSoto 2 Door Sedan Rear bumper reads "DeSoto" so it appears to be a Non Fluid Drive (one of the last years of the manual transmission).
  17. ???????????????????? Roadkingcoupe "1937 1938 1939 & 1940 the battery was under the drivers seat in a "hanging" box 1941 the battery moved up to the front left inner fender "

  20. Always thought the early 1949 vehicles were called "First Series 1949's"
  21. 1946 1947 1948 Plymouth bodied Desoto Australia, New Zealand and possibly South Africa?
  22. if you look closely the manufacturing date is right on it "Sept 1939" original price $13.50 you still need the glove box door with the cutout for the clock. Harder to find then the clock and even more rare.
  23. Part # 1112723 transmission part - for underdrive transmissions ONLY clutch gear and sleeve assembly Section 21 - 13 in your parts book Application: 1946 1947 1948 Desoto S 11 1946 1947 1948 Chrysler C 38 Never opened? 24. Changes made to eBay to protect the buyers has swung too far leaving sellers vulnerable to buyers using the feedback system as a real or perceived threat over sellers. In order to receive discounts, promotions and higher visibility to buyers sellers are trying to keep a level of service that can be tainted by one or two unrealistic buyers. In Seaplym's case there are OVER 8000 transactions and no negatives. This does not happen by fluke. He must be doing something right! Since sellers can ONLY leave positive feedback for a buyer....the only logical thing left to do is to BAN the same buyers from purchasing again after leaving neutral or poor performance on the seller 5 STAR rating system. Personally I would not pay for a photocopy either. However if it states a photocopy is for sale and you receive it and give a negative or neutral feedback.......that is lame on the part of the buyer.
