OK, where's the 51? And I think it should be "When your dead, someone else is going to drive it"

I started working on the back half of the car. Not so easy. I got he gas tank out and has a hole in the upper corner the size of a silver dollar. So I ordered a new one. Tried to get the rear hubs off. It's going to be a battle.

That why we get 3 months off.

There are over 3 million people that have the same job as I do with the same pay situation.

Could someone that is familiar with getting an antique car titled in Arkansas please private message me so I can give you my phone number to ask some questions. It's about getting a title for a car that is bill-of-sale with no title. Thanks

I'ts a glorious day as I got the engine running today. It sounds real good, but smokes like a chiming. Hope the smoking improves as the engine is ran.I still haven't driven it as I have to clean the gas tank and repair the back brakes. Hope to get it on the road this next weekend. It took so long to get it running because I decided to detail the engine compartment. I did a compression test before I got it started.3 cylinders were about 60 and 3 were about 80. I was glad none of the valves were stuck. Under the hood as it is beautiful now. I took apart, cleaned, painted and polished everything. I've heard this referred to as a spray can restoration but it looks great. So the radio works , all the light except the blinkers, looks like all the gauges work and the horns work.. Next big challenge is getting the back hubs off and seeing if the transmission works. I'll update on that as I get to it. I have all summer to work on it as I've been laid off from my job. My boss will hire me back next fall and has decided to pay me my regular salary rather than go on unemployment all summer. it's a good deal. This is the 13th summer this has happened.

If you do need to replace the staples here and on other places in the car, heater box, molding to seal hood to radiator, ect. I've found using a paper clips for wire works great. I't s the same gauge and chrome plated to boot.

Please put a Mopar engine back in it .How about one of those Hell Cat Hemi's?.

I found something real close in the faucet replacement parts in the plumbing department of the hardware store for my P-15. Not very expensive either.

I talked to a Hagerty agent today and they will insure a car not in a locked garage. The prices are higher but insurance is available depending on which state you live in. For example, I can have a car port but I have to be 100 miles from the coast. I cannot get driveway insurance in Texas because we have too many hail storms. If you go to their website to get a quote, they will ask you how the car is being stored and give you a price accordingly. I did this and the price went from $100 a year to $200 on a $10,000 car value.

The number is under the paint and it's on the left side of the firewall also. I'm guessing that the numbers were put there to notify the painters of the special color.

paint chip page showing convertible only statis for #23 Noel green.
-
Here is the firewall tag.You have to zoom in on it but under paint is code 23 Noel Green. If you look in the rectangle on the firewall in the upper left corner of this picture you'll see a hand written 23. I didn't notice this until I posted the picture just now. It must have been written there so painters know what color to paint the car.
-
Does anybody know of any other non convertibles, of this time period, with factory "convertible only" paint colors? I know that this car was born with this color as it is stamped on on the paint code label and the firewall is the same color and still has the inspection stamps on it.
-
Anybody know about how easy it was to order a car with a "convertible only" color that was not a convertible. I have a 1949 Chrysler Windsor 4 door sedan that is painted with code 23 Noel Green Metallic (convert. only color) that was special ordered by the original owner. Is this a rarity or do you think it was a fairly common practice. 624_5362118904097704761_n.jpg]

I offered $250 for this tank 2 weeks ago and was rejected. Let me know if he accepts and I'll offer again.

Fan belt replacement 1946 Plymouth original engine
bobostski replied to unclekacee's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Loosen the generator-push it in towards the block, unhook it from the all pulleys, carefully bring it around the fan not to damage the radiator and it should be free .Reverse to put on. It's not hard. Most time you just have to loosen the top bolt to move the generator. -

I now have an ignition key. Took the door lock off, took it to a locksmith and had her make a key. The key for the door and ignition is the same. Cost $65 but better than getting under the dash and taking the switch out. I am one happy camper. The plastic emblem in the hood ornament was faded and had surface cracks. The car came with an extra steering wheel emblem. With a little modification it fit right in. It's not the same but looks great. There's an original one on Ebay for $850. For that price, I'll live with what I got.

I hope the keys are the same. I don't want to have to take the ignition switch out. It's really stuffed in under the dash.

Just bought this 49 Windsor. I'm trying to figure out where to put the new hole in my head.I'ts been in this hanger for over 20 years and was last tagged in 1985. It is as clean and straight as it looks in the picture. The owner Dave, had the car repainted ( he stripped all the trim off and removed the fenders) and new seat upholstery ( he used the original English wool Broadcloth) done in the 70's. The car is all; stock, 98K miles. It was custom ordered by the first owner in Ill. He had Chrysler paint it Noel Green Metallic, a color that was reserved for convertibles only .Dave bought the car from the original owner with 23K miles in 1964 making me the 3rd owner. There is absolutely zero rust on this car except for some surface rust underneath the car.. The original owner never drove the car in the winter, Dave took the car to Oklahoma and then to Texas. Dave doesn't remember the last time the car was stared. The engine does turn over. It needs all the work a car that has been sitting need, brakes, fuel system cleaned out, hoses and fluids changed, I'm going to detail the engine compartment while I have it apart. I have the front axles done. Did not rebuild the suspension, just painted it and put on new shocks. The door panels are original and the drivers is the only one that is worn. This car looks so big compared to my 50 Wayfarer. I can't wait to wake it up again. So far everything is coming apart easily but I haven't tried the rear hubs yet. Did I mention Dave lost the keys? I took out one of the door locks yesterday to get it re-keyed and hope it's the same as the ignition.

Lets call it Tommy.

I was at the Gas Monkey Shop last week talking to Tony, the sales manager and asked him why the 2 mechanics Tom (the goofy mech.) and Jordan (looks like Tom's brother) got fired. He wouldn't say but did say they are going to have their own show as a spin-off. They are going to be in the old Gas Monkey shop. That's all he would tell me. I was speculating as to what the premise of the show was going to be about. I figure either they felt sorry for the guys and gave them the shop to start over or the guys went behind Richard's back and rented the old shop to get revenge on their old boss. Either way it will all be a set up as nothing on that show happens exactly as it is filmed. The 2 guys did get fired from the show for real though. I saw Jordon at a car show last February. I bought the 50 Wayfarer on the show and he came over to see the car again and to talk. He told me that he and Tom got fired 2 weeks earlier and was very pissed about it. He wouldn't tell me why but said it would bit Richard in the ass I think they got fired because they wanted more money. When I was filming for the show in August , I talked to Tom for about 1/2 hour. I asked him what he got paid for the show and he said he got mechanics pay and that all. He couldn't even make extra money going to car shows and making personal appearances. . It will be interesting to see if the show goes through and what it will be about.

Stock wheels and hub caps. Beauty rings are 1970's Chevy rally wheel. I like the beauty rings because they hide the wheel next to the tire and all you see is the painted center. Tires came with the car and were in good shape so I never changed them. I bought a old wheel pin striping tool off of ebay and striped the wheels myself. The tool is one of these units that has the serrated wheel and small jar of paint. This is attached to an adjustable length arm that is attached to the center of a hubcap. You jack up car, attach hubcap with tool to wheel, adjust tool length, touch tool to the wheel, spin tire and you have a pinstripe. You can the adjust arm out to create parallel strips. Took about 5 minutes for each wheel. The tool was made in the mid 50"s . Instructions say to go to used car dealer with an assortment of hub caps that have pre drilled center holes so you can attach tool to a hubcap that fits the car and make lots of money.
