  1. That second page was exactly what I was looking for. I have the same but the photo is just a big blur
  2. Our engine builder agreed that AMS Z-Rod would be good for the long run, however he was insistent that we broke it in with normal 10w30 and a Zinc additive for about the first 500 miles.
  3. I'm cleaning up my "dizz" and failed to take a picture of the wired up internals. Could someone pop their cap and snap a picture for me. Its an Auto Lite IGS-4207-1 / Chrysler 1120566 which was on my 55 P26 230. I'm about 95% confident I can get it but the picture in my service manual reprint is not very good quality. Never mind. I found a good photo out on ebay
  4. Don't worry. I was only almost tempted to keep the patina. Planning on a silver with black engine with something to draw contrast in-between for the engine bay and under the hood. Already paid for the high heat primer and high heat silver, both two part paints, so I'm committed. For the record however, we do plan on keeping patina on the drive shaft. The drive shaft only. I can see it in my mind and It's going to look good contrasted against the black frame and undercoating that will eventually go on the body and only show if someone is curious enough to get down and look.
  5. I'm a new member, but I learned quickly to look extra close when I got a note from Mr. Coatney or sourced one of his threads on an issue I was studying. Mrs Coatney and family. Thank you for sharing him with us.
  6. Look what we brought home this evening. Thanks again to Adams Engines in Howell, MI. Mr. Adams (Mark) learned how to work on engines on the factory floor. It's been resurfaced, rehoned, reground and resealed. New pistons, valves and bearings. Only a few new valve seats because some were in good shape. New oil pump, gaskets and head bolts. Almost tempted to lock in that patina with some clear coat, but only almost. Cant wait to see this with new paint. Plan to work on this with Dad and my older brother who will be back from college over the holiday break and we may get to hear this engine purr before Christmas.
  7. Eat it? That's the new hood ornament!
  8. Ha. Look what mom brought home today
  9. Okay, experiment didn't work out well. Taking the emblem back to metal ? I'll spare the the pic.
  10. The scripts are looking good, but the emblem was pocked up bad. It's given me a chance to experiment.
  11. At this point it's difficult not to equate perfect with drivable, but I hear you sir.
  12. It looks like an eggs shell. 2k polyester primer waiting to be rubbed down.
  13. I'm convinced. It stays as is. Sam, I fabricated a manifold block with 18 gage mild steel using the gasket as a template
  14. Dad says that's what he told Mom when we moved into our house. He says she wanted to paint the whole house at first but after living in it for a year, we only painted the kitchen and the master bath.
  15. the original part number of the element was 1821 552. Any tips on other elements pn# that fit this?
  16. So when the parts show up and you wonder should I put this on the car or send it to a museum...and I really wanted a silver and black theme, but should I really paint this baby... Thank you Mr. H (Desoto1939)
  17. May do this anyway ? Dad's tractor has two bowls, one is a filter and one is the pump and its a good look. I just have to figure out how to make it look like the original engineers would have wanted it there but were told to take it out to keep the cost down.
  18. Thanks for the link and the tip.
  19. Fuel Pump cleaned up nicely. All the rubber was in great shape and so was the cork gasket above the bowl. Upper chamber had a little rust on the spring seat but it cleaned right off. we sprayed a little silicone lube in the upper chamber. The screen in the lower chamber is trashed so I'll have to find one. Hope I don't have to buy a whole rebuild set just for the screen. This pump still had a tag on it with the numbers 588 and 06269
  20. New pistons will be .030 over standard.
  21. Snow day up here in MI today, so we visited Adams Engines to see progress on the block. Must say, looking sharp. Mr. Mark Adams and his son Jeff do great work. Mr. Adams said he gets the reground cam back this weekend and he will be honing the cylinders in the next day or so. I may have it back in our garage and in the chassis ready for dressing out before thanksgiving.
  22. Thank you Merle The plate moves freely, but we will disable it in the up position and see if we can fit a plate in. We get the undressed engine back in a few weeks and during the meantime I get to weld brackets into the body.
  23. I suspect she will and then of course I will ?
  24. I'll need to make a decision on that heat riser, but I like how this exhaust manifold turned out. Also on the shifter. We put a little beeswax on the lower leather bushing that we rasped out, and we also put a little silicone lubricant on the top metal bushing and now it moves like butter.
  25. One of those usually leads to the other.
