41 Plymouth dash clock? eBay

What are your opinions on the listed 1941 Plymouth dash clock, currently on eBay?

If I was not mistaken, that clock is for the 42 Plymouth, only. And if placed in the dash of a 41 Plymouth, it would fall right out!

This clock is not as tall, nor the same colors, and the hands are different than a a P-12 clock...

I could be wrong, but I'm looking only for opinions....

There was a NOS 41 plymouth clock listed about 12 mths ago for $6-700.........me being as tight as a fishes arse copied the pic and sized it to fit in the hole in the dash, placed a piece of clear plastic over the pic & installed it.......beautiful!........it tells correct time at least twice a day, will never flatten the battery and more importantly was cheap like its owner..........lol..............$700 for a clock!!!!!!.............nope.........regards, andy(tightwad)d

Andy.......that picture thing is pretty dang clever.

Don't know why I have never thought of it.

I think a 46-48 Plymouth clock, with the black face, will fit a 42 Plym

but would need to change to the copper colored face. Or, vice versa.

But I doubt it would work in the older model. Has someone measured each

item?

The face of that clock looks looks like it would probably be for the year

advertised. Overall size might be similar to the P15.

The P15 clock does not have the number "6" at the bottom.....that

area is where the stem goes into the clock. So---if any old mopar

clock for sale has the 6, it's not for P15.

Did a bit more research... That is a 42 Plymouth clock. It WILL fit the dash of a P-15, but will NOT fit the dash of any 41 Plymouth. Just a buyer beware.

I have a P-15 clock in my 41. It’s a little shorter than the 41 clock. Someone cut a P15 clock delete to make a short filler at the top.

I guess someone could ask Michael Warhsaw to measure it?

Claybill.

If you look closely, you will see that the clock on the bay, and Jims clock are VERY different. First start by looking at the hands, not the color, but the thickness. Also, originally, the hour hand was painted red, and the minute hand was dark brown. The clocks made for 41's are a taller clock too, with etched numbers that matched the numbers on the speedometer. This clock will NOT fit.

And using my method any clock will fit using just a pair of sissors................of course, the ability to tell accurate time is somewhat limited.............but.......never mind the quality....feel the width.........lol..........back in my corner I go.........andyd

I think the 42 clock had a golden center to match the instruments. Maybe? The p15 clock isnt 3d like that one.

Now here's a 42 clock:

  • 8 months later...

Hello , I purchased a 1942 Plymouth clock , with hopes of it fitting my 1941 , ( clock has a Oct. 1941 date stamped on it ) , but alas  it is to short to fit properly . The width is fine .

The clock  has a goldish face to it, and when I took it apart to repaint the numbers on the glass I found behind the goldish foil , a dark brown painted surface W/ white lines equal  to going toward  each number !!.

I have purchased an extra clock deleat plate , with the plan to make a spacer  , I believe it needs to be aprx. 3/8 "  from memory ,.

Witha little luck I believe I can make it look as if it belongs there !!! ( same as other pictures I have seen on E-Bay )

Hope that you did not shell out hundreds of dollars for a clock that was misrepresented. I see the 42's all the time, and actually have two 42 Plymouth clocks. One is an NOS clock, for Canadian Plymouths (same size, different face colors) and the "foil like", typical style. The O/S dimensions for the 42 and the P-15 clocks are identical.

Sounds lke you are at least able to make the clock you have work for you.
