Robin (UK) Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Have any of you guys heard about this? http://www.nlslimo.com/antique-cars/antique-plymouth.html If we all start hiring out our cars at $125 per hour we'll soon be able to afford to put gas in them!!! Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Robin; For us forum members there is no need to pay big bucks for this service. If you go to SanFrancisco And need ground transportation let me know. Last time I was there forum member James Douglas hooked me up in a 57 Caddilac vert. Time before that James treated me to a couple hundred miles in his 47 Desoto. If you come to America I guarantee you can get a classic ride most anywhere. When are you heading this way? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 That Plym looks pretty nice. Door panels look pretty original. However, the seat covers are not original. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 well, in all honesty, i'd be reluctant to entrust original wool upholstery to rental risks. that vinyl looks pretty durable and comfortable enough for a ride to the church or party! Quote
steveplym Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 I got asked several months ago to take my car to a wedding. A couple I know is getting married and wanted a ride in it to the reception. If I would have known $125/hr was the going rate I would have been much smarter when asked. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 I've used mine for two weddings. This young man has a sister who got married before him......a couple years ago. I took his sister and husband, then took this couple...... to the reception. They stayed sitting up on the back all the way -- people honked and waved. They got a big kick out of it. All nice kids. No charge, of course, as we attend the same church. Have carried the Grand Mashall in 3 local Christmas pardes over the years. Took a couple we know to attend a costume "mystery" party. They wanted to arrive "fashionably late"......so we did. Pulled up to the house honking the horn and the guests all came trooping out to see what was the deal. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 My dads convert got some use during my sisters wedding. Thats her and my bro-in-law and Dad getting into the car. Quote
eric wissing Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 I thought maybe your dad only let people wearing white into his car to be sure they didn't dirty it! One great looking convertible. Eric Quote
Robin (UK) Posted July 24, 2008 Author Report Posted July 24, 2008 Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic... A friend's wedding. Again, no charge. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 beats the heck out of pictures of some nondescript modern car.... who wants to be seen crawling into a new Charger all hunched over like Quasimodo? K T Keller had the right idea. where can i get a real fedora...... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 Probably can get a real fedora at a yard sale or a flea market. Occasionally at re-sale stores like Goodwill, D.A.V. or others. Quote
Captain Neon Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 My dad used to wear a fedora similar to Indiana Jones' when he was outside. I haven't seen it in a while, and I am guessing that it got too stained and smelly and it was thrown away. I don't know where he got it, but I believe he bought it new in the last 20 years. Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 Fedora hats are available new for as little as fourty eight bucks.. http://www.dadshats.com/fedoras.html http://www.hatsinthebelfry.com/page/H/CTGY/fedora_hats&source=googleads_(fedora-hat)?gclid=COyry8SH5pQCFRpknAodx1lFSw Quote
Howard Tarnoff Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Our daugher's wedding is this Spetember 20th. I had great visions of driving her in my 49 and opening up the cut outs as we approached the venue. I was kicked on it as she opted to have the two of us brought to the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage. So much for where my little girls head is at about my hobby. Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Howard, You can still do it.... just drive up in it and tell her that you were brought by a carriage drawn by 100-120 horses... Quote
steveplym Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 I've got two daughters too Howard. They are still very young, but I'm hoping to get at least one of them into cars. Let the prospective groom know of your idea. Maybe he would like your idea a bit better. Quote
James_Douglas Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 Be very careful if you use your car to give someone a ride and take money for it. In most states you would need to have a comercial license, pee in a cup, and have a written maintance program. If you don't and have any kind of acident, it will get ugly. In addition, many insurance policies specifically state that the car will not be used in commercial service and they can deny any claims arising out of an aceident when you are using the car for hire. Best, James Quote
