2 months short of five years, it was a very long time and worth the wait. We picked up the 49 on Saturday at 4:00, the guys at Xtreme all came in for the day and none hit the time clock, this was all about the car...which they take great pride in. We have a short punch list but it was to be expected.

Sunday we left home at 6 am and were in the Preregistered line to get onto the show field at the Endicott Estate in Dedham MA at 6:45 am.

Comments all day long were in the order of Wow, never saw one of these done like this before and the like. People really liked the car. We took first in our class and had a great day. Saw lots of great cars although attendance was done from years past, normally there are 1200 cars, this year about 950. Must be gas and the economy.

I have posted hi res photos of the completed car at http://picasaweb.google.com/CrusinDuck/Magoo as I still have not learned how to use pixsizer :)

The car looks fine, Howard. Congrats on the win. Took a long time, but

worth the wait. Xtreme did great work.

Now, just for fun, who knows what those wheel covers are???

I know the feeling of the "five year" thing and then WINNING!! I know some people don't care about winning, but after five years, it's nice to have your work recognized and taking first at a meet is a nice way to get it! Great job!!

Looks great, how does it run stop and handle???

We have a full punch list, it was a great team effort to get the car to the show.

As to the questions:

Runs - pretty well with the exception of the idle, it wants to race up and not come back down unless I kick it down. We looked at the return spring at the show but it seemed ok. Great acceleration. With the motor components balanced it is smooth as butter.

Stops - The 4 wheel disc brake set up is excellent. That coupled with the Kugel under dash power brake set up is awesome. Stops better than my '08 Nissan Armada.

Handles - very well indeed. We were thinking the rear suspension was going to be a bit stiff but it is very nice...even on the horrible roads we have in Massachusetts. I tested out the sway bar as I went around the on and off ramps to interstate 95 and I am very happy with the way it holds the road.

What is really amazing is that there are zero rattles. I have had close to a dozen hot rods and antiques - including the truck my buddy Sam Memmolo built on thed old Shadetree Mechanic TV show, and this is the first one that is rattle free.

To anyone thinking about Lizard Skin I can now fully attest to how well it works.

The only real bummer on the punch list is the problem we uncovered with the AC. I got the set up from Hot Rod Air. I sent in my stock control unit and they did a great job with modificaitons so that heat, air and defrost are all controlled by that...it looks like a pure stock set up and their are now visible signs of air. Anyhow, I bought all this stuff 4 years ago and SHOP 1 had it all sitting around. There is a leak in the evaporator so that unit has to come out and be sent back to Texas for repair. With everything we have going on under the dash it is not going to be an easy task to remove it.

David Stutts at Hot Rod Air is an amazing guy and is going to help us out with it...so another good vendor to consider.

Well you gonna take it out to detroit and shake up the POC folks??? You qualify to be a member of the POCO, Plymouth Owners Club Outcasts, you know us folks who enjoy our cars a bit different than they left the factory.

We have a great tailgate party.....2nd annual in the CenterPoint Marriot parking lot Friday night about 7.

Shakeys came and went in the NE about that time also. They started in Cali, and franchised east. Apparently still open out west. 50 years old in 2004.

apparently some folks really like those mushroom and alpo pies.

We had some here that closed probably 20 years ago. Last one in the midwest I saw open for business was in the WI Dells area and that was probably 10 years ago by now.

Not going to be able to make Detroit. The car will be oginng to FL with me in October and spending its time at the FL home only going forward. I will be looking for a POC in the Southeast. Any clues as to where to look. We live in the Daytona Beach area and hope to be there full time if the house in Massachusetts ever sells. :D
