greg g Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Thanks Shel that's OK. However if you pass by that stude you pictured the dashboard of, I have a home for that V8 emblem. And if you were to run across a 46 through 48 studebaker commander or land cruiser car that has these on the tops of the fenders, I would welcome a pair. Or a resonable facsimile. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Hey Greg, It must have worked I see the tree came in:) Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 I reckon that doorbell button would work like any horn button...just a momentary contact type of thing. On my car, I use a P15 starter button to operate the ah-oogah horn, an aftermarket horn button to work the siren, and a regular Radio Shack push button to operate another old "beep" horn. Not sure I have actually seen the door bell button on an old vehicle before, however. I enjoy your salvage yard photos.....you have a good eye for nifty stuff. Now I look for such things - but don't usually find such dandy subjects. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Norm......hooking up that wolf whistle seems to be a bit of a pain in the rear. It talks about drilling a hole in the manifold and such stuff. Not sure I want to do that. Wonder how Normspeed hooked his up. Anyone else have one of these? Quote
Young Ed Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Bob you should already have a hole for the wipers. Couldn't you tap off of that? Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Bob; If you dont want the wolf whistle I will take it. Quote
Reg Evans Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Greg, that switch would also likely fit your Stude. I could pick it up Thursday when I go pickin:D Shel, I could use that truck horn button and related parts if not broken and the gear shift knob if you are pickin. Quote
Reg Evans Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 On the list, but not sure how good they are.Good that you asked fast. It has only been a couple of days. I will be able to find the truck again:D Thanks Shel ! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 I have a tube coming off the base of the carbureator to which is attached a hose that contains the "muffler" for the convertible top system. The line for the wipers comes off that hose under the dash. Maybe I could tap into that system.....just need to figger out how to make it work. Then, you have to mount the whistle in such a way as to run a cable or cord thru the firewall to pull the lever on the back end of the whistle. Guess I better not give it to Don, since son-in-law gave it to me for Christmas. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 I need to figure out a way to mount the last "beep" horn I got....is now just lying behind the grille. Did get the siren fastened in position. Kind of resembles a spaghetti factory in that area. Don't know what kind of car this horn is off of......got it on ebay for about $10....in good condition. People get a grin on their face when they hear the siren or the ah-oogah horn. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 I think it was made by Klaxon, but is just a "beep, beep" kind of sound. I consider it my "roadrunner horn". Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Bob; I do have a beep-beep road runner horn. It is 12 volts. Wanna trade for the wolf whistle? Quote
Reg Evans Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Gosh Bob.....Make sure you save room somewhere for one of these too. You need a bunch of door bell buttons lined up like a key board. Hey....ya might be able to "stand in" and play your car in the band. Quote
Reg Evans Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 I think they were just a generic accessory you could buy for any 6 volt car years ago. Made by Jubilee I think. The power is hooked up full time and when you pull on a cable that ran to your dash the horn would sound. The sound will vary depending on how far you pull the cable back. It sorta sounds like a mooing cow or fog horn. I sold it a couple of weeks ago though on the Bay. Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Don' date='Since you are running 12 volts, you can go either way with the Wolf Whistle. Speedway has a 12 volt electronic Wolf Whistle for about $30. Or........they also have the vacuum model like Bob's for around $50.[/quote'] The electronic wolf whistles are junk much like fuzzy dice in a 97 Oldsmobile or any other car for that matter. Quote
