Kustom52Mopar Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Went yard hopping last Sun and got an insperation to put one of these grills in my car. Luckily a buddy has one I can use for kind of a dry run test fit to see if it'll work. What do you all think?? Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted May 20, 2008 Author Report Posted May 20, 2008 Oh ya, This is just the grill sitting on my bumper, if or when I put one in I'll have to do some work on the fender and hood so they flow together. Also probablly change the marker lights too. Quote
BloodyKnuckles Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 I've never been a big fan of those Olds grills. I have a '52 that's getting the full blown custom treatment and I'm actually keeping my original grill. I have yet to find something that I fell is "it". Good luck in your decision. greg g Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 It does kinda complement the bumpers. If you like it go for it. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 I've always rather liked that style grille. I think I saw one applied to a 46-48 Plym in some old hotrod/custom magazine years ago. Interesting how it's a kinda close fit for the opening. Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted May 20, 2008 Author Report Posted May 20, 2008 Thanks for the input so far. I think if I work the fenders so the grille flows right down they'll look real nice. Just haven't had any good ideas on a parking light for the front. Quote
BloodyKnuckles Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 How about a set of '54 Buick headlight trim rings with the intergrated signal lens? BloodyKnuckles Quote

Norm's Coupe Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 I know a guy in the Ford V8 club who put one of those in his 46 Ford Convertible. He cut it down to fit the stock grill opening. Looks great. He only used 3 of the bars though. Quote
old woolie Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 If you want it to look like an olds .buy an olds. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 If you want it to look like an olds .buy an olds. But that would defeat his purpose of making the grill a custom grill. Of course, he could buy an Olds and put a Plymouth grill in it. Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted May 23, 2008 Author Report Posted May 23, 2008 If you want it to look like an olds .buy an olds. Well I've already tried to make it look like a chevy and a '49 Plymouth so far I figured what the hay how about Oldsmobile. I'd also like to give it a touch of Buick too Quote
Allan Faust Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 Well I've already tried to make it look like a chevy and a '49 Plymouth so far I figured what the hay how about Oldsmobile. mackster Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 How about a floating bar? I have always liked those. Or maybe a crazy light!!!! Quote
RobertKB Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 I never liked those Olds grilles. They look sad and your car would not be happy! Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 I never liked those Olds grilles. They look sad and your car would not be happy! Robert, in that case you could really go custom with that grill and put it in upside down. Then the car would be smiling like a real happy camper. Quote
RobertKB Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 Norm, that could be, but let's see a pictue of it like that. Nothing like a happy Plymouth! Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 Robert, Someone else will have to make that picture. I'm not good enough with photo shop to both insert the grill and make it fit right. Quote
knighthawk Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 Mackster : what is the floating bar from ? Quote
mackster Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 Mackster : what is the floating bar from ? It's one that I have been playing around with for a little while. It's a cut up plymouth 55 grill and a 50s light from a packard. I loosely fit it like this: Quote

Kustom52Mopar Posted May 24, 2008 Author Report Posted May 24, 2008 I do like that floating grille idea, really slick. But a little update, I did get a grille today and my fiance (I just popped the question today too ) took a pic of me head first inside getting it loose. Quote
NatesSedan Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 Great pic! That is hilarious. Congrats on the grill...and the girl. Now learn yes dear and you will have it made. Quote

If he does that he'll be "_______ Whipped" for life. He just has to learn to say, okay, when I get around to it. Congratulations. Quote
