glendale Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 I know you guys are not big fans of chopped cars. I decided to share anyway. Quote
David Maxwell Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 ...so are you going to be in Santa Maria for the West Coast Kustoms show in May? BTW, whether I would chop mine or not, that's a sweet Mopar you've got. How are you going to finish it? Quote
John Mulders Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 What you do with a car is a personal thing. I think we all seen bad chops. Yours is not given me bad vibes, I actually like it. But that is not the same car in the profile or you have put a total different front on it ? As David asked, what are the plans (color, shaving etc?)? John Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 That's a good start the finished product should looks good. Keep us posted. Dennis Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 I'm one of those who is not a big fan of chopped cars. But, thats only for myself. Some of them do look good when finished though. Looks like yours will too when finished. For me personally if I had a chopped car I'd feel like the top was coming down on me when in the car. Plus, I'm a little tall so wouldn't have much head room if the top was chopped. Looks like the two of you are sort of sitting too high in the seat now too. Are you going to put in lower bucket seats? Is that the gear shifter in your hand? Quote
Niel Hoback Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I don't care for chopping tops at all. Wait a minute, thats really sharp. OK, I changed my mind, at least one chopped top looks pretty darn cool. Thats gonna be a nice looking ride. Quote
50PlymouthSled Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 That's a pretty sweet chop job. gonna look a lot like my 50. Did you use the stock window? And how was the lay in. Just curious. keep me posted. Thanks. Quote
Bodacious Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I like it. It takes some nads to chop vintage tin but when done well, it's sweet. Quote
PatS.... Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I like a well done, propotional chop that gets finished. We see all too many that get to this stage and are abandoned or put up for sale to someone else to finish, and that never happens. Yours is well proportioned and will look good finished. Keep us updated! Quote
Guest rockabillybassman Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Looking good man! I dig the hardtop treatment, and you've nailed the profile. Bloodyknuckles on here has just chopped his 50, and it turns a boxy looking profile into a cool profile. Quote
Normspeed Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I like chops. Yours is looking fine. What will your rear window come from, or will you go with acrylic plastic or...? Quote
RobertKB Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Sorry, don't like chops, even well done ones. Makes the car look like something big sat on it and squashed it. One day there will be so few unmolested cars around, they will climb plenty in value. Quote
BloodyKnuckles Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I know you guys are not big fans of chopped cars. I decided to share anyway. I love you man! (...in a beer commercial kind of way!!) BloodyKnuckles Quote
BloodyKnuckles Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Uh-ohh, man hugs. Norm, do you need a hug too? I'm not shy. BloodyKnuckles Quote
tankwilson Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 My chopped 49 To give you an idea of how much..... Quote
Guest rockabillybassman Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Yeah Tank, I dig yours too. I think the secret to getting the 49 onward tops to look good is in laying down the back window area to create a slightly sloper look, and you guys nailed it. Quote
50PlymouthSled Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Looks good Tank, what kinda seats did you use? And did you channel the car at all? I'm curious, cause I'm trying to sort out how much I can drop mine, seeing as I'm 6'4 and would like to still be able to drive it. Hah. Thanks for the info again. Quote
Captain Neon Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 I agree w/ Norm. I'm too tall for a chop-top. My P15's ample head room is one of her most endearing features. Quote
50PlymouthSled Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Eh, I'm Six Four, so I'll let you know how the chop works out Neon. Lol. Quote
tankwilson Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Mine is chopped 7" in the front and 8" in the back, hardtopped and airbagged. I am running the orginal seat which needs to be cut down 3-4" for me. Im 5'10" I have to duck to get in the car. Mostly because of the tall stock seat. Thanks Kenny Baker in Elmer Mo. Chopped my car. He is king. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 I've seen some pics, over on the HAMB i think, of some really nifty customized old 50s Mopars. Seems they were taken at a show or a cruise in........I should have bookmarked or copied off some of them. Lookin good guys. Glendale, is that the same car you had a year or so ago? Quote
mackster Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Both Glendale and tank have great chops! keep it up.... Quote
