Hi i figured out that i need a throw out bearing . I pulled the inspection plate and when i spun the bearing it grinds and there is some metal paste and flakes around the bearing . The guy i got the truck from just replaced it and it dose look new . Any ideas why it would go bad so fast ? It feals really dry there is no lube in it . These are dry clutches ??? How would one grease a throwout bearing once installed ? Well my main concern now is where to locate a 60 yr old bearing ??? Please help this is one of the last hang ups befor this thing is road worthie . Thanks so much AL

I think I got mine from Andy Bernbaum Auto Parts www.oldmoparts.com

Is the small return spring attached? There should be a small spring, about 1" in length attached between the throwout bearing and the clutch housing. It helps to hold the bearing away from the clutch when the pedal is released. Also be sure that the linkage is adjusted correctly as to allow clearance for the bearing when released.

There is no way to grease the bearing. It's a sealed for life deal. It isn't designed to be in constant contact with the clutch. That would cause it to spin continuously and cause premature failure.

If you look close there should be a bearing number on it. I was able to get a new one from a bearing shop in town
