Normspeed Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Does this look like a good deal? Seems good to me, a buy it now of less than $20, all the special type heads, stainless steel. This seller seems put these up regularly. Ebay item # 200214543688 Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Bet you can get the same things (not in kit form) from home depot or Lowes for less. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Not sure Don..the local bubble pacs are just 4-5 items per bag and got a hefty price..I find the swap meet folks have the better deals...the thing to kee[p in mind on these old Plymouths..lot of special JACKSON screws are needed... Ed Griffin Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Tim, what does a Jackson screw look like? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Ed..the Jackson screw is a number 8 body with a number 6 head....very common on our old Plymouths..etc... If you put a 8 screw in the head looks so out of place..if you place the correct head in the recess it will not grip...thus you just identified the need for the Jackson screw.. Quote
David Maxwell Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 ... I went to Home Depot and OSH and ACE. I had to go to all three before I could find exactly the right sizes in Stainless. I figure I spent way over $20 worth of gas, time and energy. Wish he'd had the packets when I was looking! Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Tim, what does a Jackson screw look like? Hold on while I google it................ Wow............... This might take a while..................... Quote
Ed Griffin Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Thanks Tim. I'm sure I've seen them and probably have them in a mixed box from Joe's shop but didn't know the name. I dont know what areas there in, Cole's Do it center's, but the one here locally has been my best source for nuts, bolts, screws, etc. and they are in bin trays, not packs. Buy by the lb. or each. cole18cars Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 anyone know where one might find the large phillips head screw used on the door hinge? Oh yea, it's a 39 Ply. Thanks Quote

martybose Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 I buy most of my stainless hardware from Totally Stainless. No web site, phone (717) 677-8811. They list Jackson #8x3/4" at $0.16 each, and list lengths from 1/2" to 2". Marty Quote
HughForrest Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 I get Jackson screws from the local auto upholstery guy. He didn't know that was the name for them, but he knew exactly what they were. Upholstery shops often have many small drawers of "Auveco" (a brand name) fasteners. Thats where they live. My local guy didn't mind giving me the 20 or so I needed along with those funny flush finish washers for free. He had many sizes in the bins. Quote
Brendan D25 Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 I was in the local NAPA store yesterday and they had a bunch of trim screws hanging on the wall. Quote
