Don Coatney Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I already know the direction I am going. Just thought I would post this so I get the opinions of the group. Quote
busycoupe Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I think that I would use hub caps, perhaps painted blue to match the car. However, considering the 2 choices offered, I would pick gold. By the way, what kind of wheels do you have? I will be looking for new tires (radials) this spring, and I am not sure whether I should try to clean up the original wheels and paint them, or to buy new replacements. Quote

My wheels are from wheelvintiques in Fresno, California. Google them.. Quote
busycoupe Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Sorry, I did go back and vote. I was #1 for baby moons. Thanks for the info on the wheels. Quote
oldmopar Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Picked other I think I would paint them the same color as the car. Ed Quote
Ed Griffin Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I like the gold you chose without the hubcaps because it went with the chrome in a contrasting way but the red does not work for me with your blue car. I think red looks well depending on the color of the car itself. Gold as you had it or a matching blue might work but when you had the baby moons on your car at first I thought they were best. Thats why I picked baby moons on the poll. Completes the wheels and car with them to me. Guess thats why I'm looking at some myself for my 50 Chevy truck. Good luck with whatever you go with Don. Know you will find what you like, just show us the results when you do Quote
Johnny S Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I chose "other" thinking body color would be my preference but Baby Moons are a close second. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I would go with aluminum like my front hubs. Would match the wheels better. If going for contrast, I'd stick with the gold you already have. If putting Baby Moons back on, it really doesn't matter because they are hidden. My rear hubs are ALL NATURAL rust color. Who cares, no one sees them anyway with the wheel and hubcap on. Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I personally would go with gold, its a nice break on the chrome. I'd steer clear from red with the popular thing now a days painting wheels red and all. Quote
Normspeed Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 I'd go with the baby moons, black hubs running second. My original plan for my wagon was black rims, baby moons and narrow stainless beauty rings. Til I found out there ain't no baby moons out there that fit original Plymouth rims. Quote
central52 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 I would think the same color as the car. Ed P. Quote
bobby horne Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 I voted for the gold, but would try the gold/brass hammermill paint to see what that would look like. I used it on my starter and generator and looks real nice.... Quote
PatS.... Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 In Canada, we have no choice, we must have hub caps otherwise we get a ticket for indecent exposure for having our nuts showing!!! So I voted baby moons Quote

Rodney Bullock Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 Don, I voted other because I think you should use a spider hub & nut cover. This makes the whole comination look vintage. On my truck when I get finished with this Stupidbaker I am going to get some new smoothe rims and instead of using a moon I am using these spider hubs. Your car looks great with the gold and you know why:D Big daddy Don has to have bling bling when "they" bring their milkshakes to the yard! OH Boy! Quote
