hello all, I have a fenton 2 carb intake on a 218. I just bought a used set of old cast iron fenton headers. The old owner did not have the heat pipes and set up for the intake. Up here in Minnesota we drive it from spring to fall (40 to 90 temp). The 2 carb deal has a hand choke. Is the heat set up really necessary? Thanks in advance.

Yes heating the intake is necessary, otherwise you'll get driveability issues even in warm weather. I can't remember the exact science of it but if you look around at Langdon's site I'm sure its posted there. I know its in the back of his cataloge too.

Mike you lucky dog! where did you find them? Taking good care of the parts car? Also the heat pipes look pretty easy to fab up.

I run my duals o the fenton without heat. I have run the car with temps in the low 30's with no problems other than a bit of an extended time before the choke can be fully shut off. I have given some thought to zip tying the heater hose to the intake along its full leght but haven't found a compelling reason to do so.

I run a dual Fenton intake and headers in Toronto from early spring til the snow flies. No heat riser, no heat tubes, choke on 1 carb. Never had a problem in 2 years and the car runs great.
