Oldguy48
My P15 has a cracked window on the front passenger side door. Can anyone provide some guidance on removing/repairing the window? I want to tackle it, but thought I'd ask for some help from the experts before I dive in ! Thanks for any advice.
Norm's Coupe
Remove door panel, roll window half way down, open vent wing window all the way. Remove bolts from window regulator inside door. Lift window up, tilting toward front of car and pulling toward you as you pull the window out. That's all there is. It's covered in the service manual. Young Ed
I removed mine by uncliping the arms from the riser and removing just the window.
Norm's Coupe
Ed, mine probably has clips too. It's been awhile since I was in there. I said bolts because I wasn't sure what was holding it onto the regulator arms. It's not a hard job though, pretty straight forward.
Young Ed
Right I just didnt want him to remove the regulator if he doesnt need to. Also just keep wiggling the windows til they came out. I got impatient and broke one of mine.
Norm's Coupe
Ed, don't feel bad about breaking the window. When I bought my coupe the left rear quarter window was busted out completely. I removed the channel and had a new glass cut and put in the channel. Of course, it was real easy to get the channel out without any glass in it. However, putting it back in was a real pain. I put a small chip on one of the edges getting that thing back in. The chip wasn't big enough to see easily so left it in once I got it in. Think I wrestled with it for a couple of hours or more getting it back in.
Young Ed
Thats exactly what I did. Window was shattered and a new one came with the car. However I broke that one getting it in. I did feel a little better after taking the other side out for duplication when I compared them and the brand new one was slightly miscut. So I blamed it on that. greg g
Job might be a bit easier if you also remove the window garnish as it will give you a bit more wiggle room.

bob westphal
You will need to remove the window moulding/vent window assembly before you can remove the door panel.
