Looking For Bed Hooks

Los posted this photo a little while ago and I noticed that it had the bed hooks that I've been looking for.  The only thing I've found that's even close is priced at $24 each which I think is a tad over priced.  Would any of you know where to find this style of hook for a price that won't break the bank?

I have to admit, never really thought about those. Usually the ones I do see have been broken off from use .... unless the $24 ones are better?

 

My truck has holes drilled in 4 corners for eye bolts .... they seem to be fairly strong and what my truck had installed back in the day.

I'm considering going D rings routed into the floor of the truck myself .... not period correct but very useful.

 

The hooks in the photo, if you connect a ratchet strap to them, then apply any pressure .... right where they transform from straight to curve, you pull the curve back and they break because they are pot metal or whatever ... not steel they do not bend.

 

I get it, you have a show pony not a working horse and the hooks are just for looks .... When I see those hooks I just remember how cheap they are and how easily they break.

Maybe I should add .... if you took some round rod and bent it to shape, then some flat steel and welded them together ... you could make some that would actually work and not break when stress was added to them.

 

Would be a afternoon project with paint and actually have a working product.

If the hooks are made properly they'll withstand a tremendous amount of pressure.  I might be wrong in my terminology but I believe term forged hooks are what I'm looking for.

Haha!  A show pony from 15 feet, any closer and the flaws will start jumping out at you

Those are close to what I'm looking for.  Here's a picture of one of the two that were on my original bed sides.  I'd love to find two matching hooks, or four that are close to matching.

 

I don't think I've used the search term Rope Hook before, that seems to have opened up the results quite a bit.  Thanks!

For a real eye-opener check out Kevin Foust's build thread of a 1941 WC on the Dodge Power Wagon Forum.   Superb work with stainless on many parts including the rope hooks.  He didn't cut any corners anywhere!

Working at the local school, I have seen these kind of hooks in the lockers. The source is “SchoolFix.com”. Called single prong side hook, they cost a whopping 60 cents. The hook dimensions are 1-7/8in. W x 3-3/4in. H, with a 3/16in. diameter.
